AudiogoN ForSale: Sony 010 Qualia

Seriously? Since when did the 010 become as expensive as an HE90?

These were first listed at $3990.00 a few days ago but have now been jacked up another $6k. IMO they were overpriced at their original starting point, albeit "reasonably" overpriced. Now, I'm really not sure if ludicrous appropriately describes this auction. Hilarious, ludicrous, or both? You take your pick.

Do you think anyone will buy it?

In the end they are worth what someone else are willing to pay.
But seems way overpriced imo.

But this is not a complete set. The original Sony stand for the 010 is not included. Wonder if it is 10/10, why the stand is not included.

Qualia 010 was sold at around US$2,400 - 2,600 back at 2004.

No matter how rare it is today it simply does not worth $10K today. I guess this is another way to withdraw the auction for some reason unknown to the rest of us ?

I know the photograph is washed out and it is hard to tell the condition of the headphones. But they look like they have been used to me, perhaps gently used, but used nonetheless. A 10/10 should be for mint condition headphones, new old stock, and of course come with the stand. The condition to me, based on the photos, seems more like an 8/10. I could see paying $2000 for the headphones, but certainly not $10,000! Also, the medium size, from what I hear, is still for people with large heads.

I was contemplating them at $3990. Woke up this morning and he rose the minimum bid to $9990. Absolutely insane!!!

Someone probably offered him $4500 to sell them to him right away so he jacked up the price to prevent bidding because he couldn't figure out how to cancel the auction. Which he now has.

The HE90's originally sold for about $8k with the Orpheus system at $13K so the price has been reasonably stable over time. The latest release via Jan Meier was at $5K and in Europe I believe there was a 20% VAT and the units sold through dealers in the USA were more than $5k so again- reasonably stable over time.

$10K for the Qualias is funny to say the least. Plus they were very fit dependant etc. and really didn’t earn much respect.

So uhm, I've heard a lot about these phonies, but there isn't a featured review about them. I bet they were rare even when they were in production, no?
