I went to Guitar Center today to buy a 0404 USB, and when they looked it up in the computer it was listed as "discontinued." It also appears to be out of stock at Amazon.com. They have what appears to be an 0404 USB in stock there, but under the name E-MU EM8761 instead. Can anyone shed some light on what the status of the 0404 USB is? Is there a new line coming out or something?

It's the same product, EM8761 is the product code. Some resellers use the product code instead of the real name.

The 0202 is out of stock at Newegg.com, too. I was forced to order one from eBay, which sucks, because I had to pay $12 for flat rate shipping, when Newegg would have given me three day shipping for less than $6.

When one finds a vendor out of stock on an item, it's always best to Google the item model name or number, then click on the "Product search results for XXXXX" link....and you will find out if other vendors have it available. In this case, there are lots of vendors selling it, most for a lot less than GC. Best Buy for Business has it at just under $152.

The 0404 USB is the name of the unit, and the manufacturer part number is 70EM876106000. As far as I know, it's always been that way--but you are not the first person to have posted some confusion over the way a site has opted to show the name of the unit as something other than 0404 USB.
