As the title says. Was going to go for the sennheiser hd-485 but heard they're not too good with metal and rock music and there isnt a great deal of detail.
So which one should I go for? K240s vs hd 555s?

Sennheiser headphones in general aren't very good for hard rock/metal. AKG headphones are typically more detailed, foreward, and neutral than Sennheisers. The HD555 is especially laid back and has a mellow buttery sound that sounds GREAT for the price with classical music, but just tends to slur really lively stuff like metal. Between the two, there should be little debate for you.

The k240s really needs to be amped. Assuming you don't have an amp, I'd say definitely go for the 555.
