O.k. i've had a go on the search, and i'm non the wiser on why the DT990 headphones are nearly/over £100 more than the DT990 .. which i enjoyed.

Story

Spent a bit of time with the DT990 (old version), and I was very, very impressed. However, with all the threads on Darth Beyers, i was expecting Ultrasone .. type deep bass, which they don't have. However In some areas I was more impressed with the 990's than my HD650's.

So i've been looking around and i can see that the 990's are around £270

and the 990 Pro's are around £120

Amazon.co.uk: Used and New: Beyerdynamic DT990 PRO Headset

so are the £270 990's worth the extra cash?

I do not know, so I went with pros.

Having owned both, I believe that they are definately worth the cost. First thing is that the comfort level increases tenfold, the pros headband always gave me some discomfort after long periods of time. Also the build quality is increased quite substantially, a lot less plastic is always a good thing. But the most important thing obviously is the sound, and I believe it does increase in quality. Overall they are definitely worth your money!

P.S. I just realized that amazon has the incorrect picture for the DT990 premium. For the correct picture:
