I just scored a pair of slightly used GEC 6AS7Gs for $200 from someone selling their WA2. Combined with the Siemens CCAs, I don't think this amp can get any better...pure heaven.
I highly recommend you find a way to hear this amp with T1s.

Wow... really well done, fantastic review and the tube info is great. I have many of the tubes you reference that I use in my WA3 (and some you haven't heard); I share many of your impressions on these tubes. I was toying with writing something similar in the context of the WA3, but I need a lot more track time with some of my newer tube acquisitions to feel comfortable with impressions, so far.

XLNT review, thanks! I've had my eye on this unit because it also doubles as a line stage, which application I would need, because I am currently using an EarMax as my line stage. Did you do any testing of this unit in this application? Thanks in advance....

I use the WA2 as a preamp for my main system, as well as my headphone amp. That is the way to extract max value from your investment. How well it performs that function very much depends on the quality of your tubes, especially the driver tubes. With the high quality tubes I have, it is a superb preamp. I highly recommended it if you upgrade tubes. With the stock tubes, I was not overly impressed.
