Different flavors. Impacts is more of a mid forward balanced tuning vs the RGB which is focused a bit more in the trebles but also balanced well. Its a toss up as far as mids are concerned and bass ends are roughly comparable. I do like the ability to add or take some bass away depending on my mood. Both fantastic sets. Impacts can sound similar to the RGB with a cable switch. Its included cable enhances mids, a more silver based cable on the impacts will get you something more closer to how the RGB was tuned.
Impacts have what is essentially the Penon house sound, a philosophy more based on musical with a focus on mids presentation. Impacts has the more forward mids in the balancing vs the RGB. RGB on the other hand is more focused on its detail and treble aspects for its tuning. Impacts slightly warm a bit more leaning analoguish while the RGB you can say is a bit more analytical due to having more treble presence and extension. Both have superb balancing and bass ends are comparable. Funny thing is you can make the Impacts sound a bit like the RGB and the RGB to sound a bit like the impacts just by using a cable that influences more of the treble for the impacts and more of the mids and bass of the RGB. I think the prices reflect extremely well with how these IEMs rank.
the rgb is cool, but cmon who will shill out 3k on an iem for a price of a headphone or a speaker. I have tsmr 4pro and i love this iem and currently im considering the sands. The problem is, there are no newer affordable options other than sands, I just wish if tsmr could release few more budget options with new shell design like sands to attract more people into the brand and im one of them. Its really sad tbh.
