TACables Obsidian

New Head-Fier
Pros: Affordable Price
Premium Build
Doesn't change the sound in a bad way
Introduction

The TACables recently introduced to the audio scene which is from a known for making premium cable for iems and other audio gears.

They recently announce their debut cable, Which is the TACables’ Obsidian which is compose of 50% Black Litz 5N OCC and 50% Silver-plated 5N OCC hybrid structure. Beside from its premium looks, it is also budget friendly which price is around 20$, fair enough compared to other cables brands with the same price range, this cable offer a good quality and a pretty looking materials from earphone jack or plug into the connectors.

Sound Quality

I am a fan of cable aesthetics rather than the sound quality, if you are concern about this cable will change the sound of your IEM, don’t worry because I don’t hear any major sound quality changes that may affect it badly. It maintains the sound naturally which cables should be doing always.

Build Quality

TACables Obsidian provides a good quality hardwares and also a nicely structured cable which is composed of Black Litz 5N OCC + Silver-plated 5N OCC. The cable color itself has a unique color which gives you a reason to add this into your collection of cables. Plugs and connectors can be better, but for only 20$ you’ll get what you’ve paid for. Cable doesn’t feel stiff, it is soft as a normal 4-core Litz should be.

Conclusion

TACables did a good job on this Obsidian Cable. I suggest getting this cable compared to other chifi brands on 20$ price range. I hope TACables will continue to release other models like these. And I will continue to support this brand if they do so.

Cons: Needs better projection of notes and stage depth
More dynamics
Needs to add more taller stage
TAC OBSIDIAN SPC CABLE

TACable
which stands for Technical Audio Crafts, is a part of Hakugei cable company from China which offers really good quality but great affordable options. Hakugei is already very famous for their wonderful cable and I am pretty excited for their cheaper sister company cables. This is the first time I am encountering TACables overall but I have had my share of cable change for iems and headphones. I do believe cables change sound but how much depends on the iem/headphone a lot.

DISCLAIMER- I WAS SENT THIS CABLE FOR REVIEW BY TAC CABLES AS A PART OF REVIEW TOUR IN INDIA. SURELY, I WANT TO THANK THEM FOR CONSIDERING ME AS A PART OF THE REVIEW TOUR BUT ALL MY OPINIONS ARE MY OWN WHETHER POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE AND WILL NOT BE INFLUENCED BY ANYTHING EXCEPT ME 😋

BUILD-

The build of the cable is excellent per say. The jack options are great but I would love to have it as 4.4 balanced connection but alas this came as 3.5mm jack but the jack is strongly built. The best thing about it was the 2-pin connection which always created a Click sound on entering the iem (Satisfying feel😁).

The only two things I would complain is the length of the jack and also the chin slider. The chin slider is easily displaced and the also the jack length is bit too much, and the thing that holds the jack with the cable, it seemed a bit flimsy.
20211122_232721.jpg

But there is no microphonics and it was supple enough to not cause me trouble. Plus, the build inspired a confidence that I only felt from using 100$ or more cables haha🤣.

OVERALL SOUND CHANGES-

BASS AND SUBBASS-

Changes are well perceived here especially in the bass region. Bass is further tightened and added more of a punch 🤩 but taking away a bit of timbre. This in turn increases the bass volume but gives away in terms of soundstage. The overall energy is increased given a forward presentation. But overall, there is slightly leaner tonality with notes being slightly lean.

Sub-bass changes are not that much but the rumble is slightly decreased but good increase in the texture of the notes. The notes are lean but there is increased separation 😁. Overall, a lovely presentation.

MIDS-

Vocals are great but largely not too much of a change. Female vocals are enhanced more than the male vocals. Though slightly lean, still they don't feel compressed and has more airy presentation.

Instruments have been more stereo separated with more space between the vocalists and the instruments. The tonality is slightly lean and timbre is slightly missed. The notes are though sharper and more defined but lack extension in to the headroom. The resolution is further enhanced and micro details are more pronounced. Dynamism takes a slight backseat though.
20211122_233525.jpg

TREBLE-

Treble presence is more engaging and enhanced. There is more energy and sparkle. Edge definition of the notes are better. Separation is much better with added air. Some sharpness can be felt when combined with bright iems likes Penon fan, slight amount of sibilance is present but that depends on iems more than the cable itself.

TECHNICALITIES-

The head stage is more stereo separated with good space between the vocalists and the instruments. There is a small headstage width enhancement but not much in height. The projection of the notes is muted and stage depth takes a small toll. Overall dynamics is slightly lost too. But separation is more enhanced. Notes are much more defined; edge definition is much better and inter instrumental separation is much better. The resolution comes up but I can’t confirm whether it's due to foreword soundstage or increased transparency. The imaging is more stereo that giving a sense of room or theatre.

SUMMARY-
Cable change is an interesting place in the hobby and many swear by it and many don’t, but for me it takes trial and error to find the perfect match for you (Not every thing is the same). Now this cable seems to be intended for warm/ having muddy bass iems to provide them a bit more treble extension and sparkle and also tighten the bass and the notes of all frequencies. For my Blons 03 this was a very good match but not so much with my PENON FAN which is slightly on the brighter side. So, your mileage may vary but at this price its hard to complain about this cable, it’s full recommendation if you want the things this cable provides.

TACable Obsidian – ever so subtle yet appealing
Pros: • Nicely and well built
• appealing color
• nice weight, not heavy neither light
• worth the price tag
• commendable effect on sound signature
Cons: • nothing as of the moment
INTRODUCTION:

TACable which stands for Technical Audio Crafts, is a company from China a sister company of Hakugei company which offers affordable alternatives. This is the first product I have encountered from them and it was a nice experience. I’m not really a cable guy yet, but as a musician, cables is one thing that I invest on. I don’t limit myself to mediocre cables for my instruments. It is just a hassle if you settle for one.

Being a newbie in the audiophile world, I know that cables is one of those things that we all want to upgrade to our liking. Be it looks and sound signature purposes, and as much as our wallet can handle. This will be a short review and this is my first time reviewing a cable. Some people claim that cables have no effect on sound, but for this experience, I must disagree.

On this review, the BQEYZ KC2 was used compared with its stock cable. As a musician, I used also my trusty instruments namely KORG KROSS gen 1, and YAMAHA MOXF6 and tested with a popular plug in namely KEYSCAPE for delicate and nicely articulated acoustic pianos.

DISCLAIMER:

This unit was provided for a review tour, I did not buy this to personally keep, (well I did hope it was mine to keep) and is not provided any form of incentive. My impressions here is as honest as my experience. Manage your expectations as my personal set up will most likely differ from yours. Thus we will all have different involvement. Again, take this as a grain of salt.

Another thing to add, is I did not remove the protective adhesive tapes from the cable, as this is not personally mine.

Cable Structure: type 4

Black litz 5n occ/litz silver plated 5n occ

Configuration options: 0.78mm 2pin, MMCX, QDC

Plug options: 3.5mm, 2.5mm, 4.4mm

Length: 120cm

PACKAGING:

EDZ06998.JPG

Package comes with a thin and flat box. Very basic inclusions.

  • Cable itself
  • Thank you card
  • Warranty guide
  • Card with TACable logo and abbreviation (Technical Audio Craft)

PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES:

Obsidian is a cool looking cable. I really liked the color. It is somewhat greyish, silvery chrome. It has decent weight which is just right. Not the softest cable around but not hard enough to be stiff. It does not tangle that much which is a good thing. There are times that I need to plug in my IEMs immediately and quite often if I just let it fall, it will untangle freely.

Obsidian is not thick yet not thin also. Compare to Bravery’s Hakugei cable, this one is on the thin side. Yet it feels sturdy enough and well built. Be assured this will last long. Of course abuse is another thing. As with any other gadgets, a little extra care will go a long way.

EDZ06993.JPG

On thing that makes Obsidian quite different from other cables is you can unscrew the insulator. Just like my instrument cables. And from here you can see the effort of the craftmanship. Must I say it is worth the 20$ price tag. I have never seen an earphone cable this meticulously crafted. I know there are more high end cables out there, but for my first time, it is a different experience and awesomeness to witness quality like this.

EDZ06996.JPG

Chin slider is made of metal. Very easy to adjust. Cable organizer is a typical velcro with a TACable print.

Now unto its effect to sound…

LOWS:

Obsidian offers a subtle expansion here. An ever so light addition to sub bass and more on mid bass. Not bloated but tight, clean with a slight punch. I am not a bass head and this addition is just quite right for me in the case of KC2. Of course bass heavy IEM will effect more in the area too and that might be too much for me.

Conclusively, it was satisfying to have a bit more of lows here specially if your IEM sound clinical or dry.

MIDS:

In this case, I used my keyboards for it was more discernible. I used piano acoustic sounds as my ears are trained to hear the nuances of piano acoustic as it is my main instrument. I used KEYSCAPE plug in here for it offers a very accurate simulation of piano acoustics. Obsidian offered natural and forward mids here. Lushful and rich. Really really nice and desirable for me. It is best to test this on orchestral tracks and non-vocal tracks.

Conclusively, mids are the star of the show here.

EDZ06995.JPG

HIGHS:

Again, I used the method mentioned above to hear what Obsidian does to sound. As for the highs, it tames this section. Yet maintaining openness and airiness and details. This will be suited to bright sounding IEMs if treble is piercing and harsh.

Conclusively as a treble sensitive, this falls to my perspective. KC2 has a treble roll off so you must be thinking where would be the trebles here. Don’t worry, Obsidian’s effect on the treble is so subtle. It is so subtle that I noticed it when playing alone with my piano sounds.

SOUNDSTAGE AND IMAGING:

I did not notice any significant difference in this area for Obsidian. It remained the same compared to stock cable of KC2. If you have sharper ears, maybe you can discern this one for me.

EDZ06997.JPG

SOURCES AND GEARS:

  • LG V30 hifi dac (high impedance mode)
  • Hiby Music player
  • UAPP app (USB Audio Player Pro)
  • BQEYZ KC2
  • Yamaha MOXF6
  • Korg Kross generation 1
  • KEYSCAPE plug in via Ableton Live

VERDICT:

EDZ06994.JPG

Obsidian is definitely a recommended accessory for me. The price tag won’t hurt those who are on the budget, and get these benefits on sound. With exceptional craftmanship similar to instrument cables, this one is a no-brainer. It is a must have for anyone who enjoys music and wants to take it to another level. I have not yet tested enough cables to be called a cable guy but this one did a mark on me.

Thanks, and appreciation to TACables for letting us experience Obsidian. It is my pleasure to review this one as my first cable impression.

TACables Obsidian: The New Budget King
Pros: 1. Premium looks and feel
2. Helps smoothening the mid-range
3. Adds slightly to resolution and punch
4. Price to performance ratio
5. Extreme low microphonics
6. Tangle free design
Cons: At this Price Point - None
Introduction:
Hakugei - a brand known for its exemplary custom cables has now bought to us a new sub brand by the name of TACable with Obsidian as their latest offering in the budget range. The cable has been priced at around 20USD.

IMG_20211115_090745.jpg

Build, Design and Sound:
The Obsidian is has remarkable exceeded my expectations in terms of both quality and sonic performance. Its feels quite sturdy and premium for the price it has been offered in the market. The sliders, splitters and the termination everything is metallic and promises durability of the product. The relief stain provided at the end of termination is also sturdy and comfortable.

The Obsidian consist of 133 cores of 50% Black Litz 5N OCC and 50% Silver-plated Litz 5N OCC wires with DuPont PVC insulation. The whole cable has that black and white look thus it looks very classy and subtle. I have received t the cable with 3.5mm termination on 2Pin connections but it is also available in at various customizable terminations such as 3.5mm/2.5mm/4.4mm over variety of different connector options such as 0.78 2pin/MMCX

IMG_20211115_073232.jpg

Now coming towards the most interesting topic, how does this cable perform in terms of sonic changes. To me I have tested the cable on my Noble Sage, KZ ZAS and following were my observations. There was no major improvement in the lower frequency spectrum, on contrary it mellowed down a little bit but in a good way, the quality somehow seemed bit improved in terms of texture but quantity decreased at bit. There was very minimal impact on the treble region but yes I do say it was slightly improved in terms of airiness as well as the note separation. The texture and timber has also got slight more natural touch to it with bit more refined micro details. Now coming to mid-range is what has impacted the most, to my taste it got bit relaxed and smooth. To the soundstage I felt had no noticeable impact width wise but slightly verticality has been improved.

The best part for me about the cable apart from its sonic performance was the build and the comfort. The cable is completely tangled free and light weight. It has extremely low microphonics and feels very much sturdy for even rough use.

IMG_20211115_073124.jpg

Final Verdict:
I would say for 20USD, TACable Obsidian is perfect bargain for the money if one is looking for a replacement cable in budget that maintains the tonality of the IEM while making sound bit soft on mids and improve overall dynamics a bit. The performance of cable absolutely depends on what kind of stock cable one is moving out from. I would recommend this cable mostly to mids focused IEMs as of the sweetness it added to them during my testing and the improvement of timber and texture.

INTRODUCTION:

The TACable is the sub brand of the Hakugei which is a famous brand known for its impeccable cables for the earphones. The TACable Obsidian is their latest offering in the budget range and they have priced this at a very nominal price of 20usd! For this price the cable did exceed my expectations in terms of both the build and the sound. Let’s dive in deep to know why this cable is the finest in the market for the price.

BsA-X7ejPYQop5BW5i2JUFiFghJW9vxPkzzPuLp_URv65IKsf_qYAMDQyXJj2HVZkuVv1ONBw4sTuwt1NpzxFbYUwqizX3EHhEu9mC5ZCKsONHTqvrBIABj_L6iLvw

BUILD AND DESIGN:

The TACable is built very solid and premium overall. Even though they are priced very less, the premium feel that they provide is unmatchable in this price range. The supple nature that this cable provides is very nice and the materials that they have used in the cable are very premium. For instance the slider, splitter and the termination everything are made out of metal and thus the durability of this product is top notch. The strain relief provided at the termination end is very nice and gives that extra touch in premiumness.

133 cores consisting of 50% Black Litz 5N OCC and 50% Silver-plated Litz 5N OCC wires with DuPont PVC insulation. The whole cable has that black and white look thus it looks very classy and subtle. The cable organiser has also been provided.

The good thing about the cable is that they have used metal parts for most of the areas and this is really a very good move from the brand.

ZF6h9rxxUX27kWF2MHxPDttmR5sw46jOP0nOse91LLQyyDfJU4KinFc3o8w7pFdAkr8ibqOTLQkTYAtVpVC4xSgY1FHJyO0vxMLOaRRyuSIkbRhF22_6wppJ0YR1XA

SOUND:

The Obsidian cable does improve the sound a bit. Especially if you are pairing it with the balanced or midrange focused iem’s. The low end gets even more boosted a bit but in a good way where the texture and the control gets improved. The treble now breathes some good amount of air, thus the separation and the openness got even more improved.

The midrange however took a step back in the placement but not that obvious. People who like a laidback and a relaxed sound signature will love this cable pairing with the IEM which has a balanced to mid focus.

The surprising fact is that even though they do alter the frequency response they don’t alter the tonality of the iem. I have tried it with the TForce Yuan Li which of course has that neutral to balanced tonality and the end result is that the bass got even more textured out and the control got improved, the treble got more air to breathe, whereas the tonality didn’t get altered which is a very good thing to notice out.

The other polar opposite iem i have tried it with is the IKKO OH10 and the end result is that the OH10 got even more bassier and of course it's slightly bloated too. Too much bass in the OH10 made the midrange even more placed backwards which is already a laidback earphone in stock form.

VERDICT:

TACable, a new and first release from the sub brand of the Hakugei is a great all round package. From the above observations I can clearly come to a conclusion that this cable does pair well with mid focused and brighter earphones rather than a warm and V shaped IEM’S. The low end control and texture got improved a lot and the treble got open up. Overall I'm pretty impressed with the sound output of the Obsidian cable even though it's very quite subtle since this cable covers most of the aspect from the sound to the build.

TACables Obsidian – Good sound on a budget.
Pros: Premium build quality.
Soft and supple cable.
No microphonics or cable noise.
Cons: Nothing really at this price. :-)
TACables is a budget sub-brand of Hakugei, which as the name suggests, deals with cables. The “Obsidian” is their first product which retails for 20 USD. Hakugei is a well-known Chinese brand that makes premium replacement cables that can burn a hole in your pocket, hence, it is exciting to see what TACables has to offer for 20 USD.

Disclaimer:

This cable was sent by TACables as part of a review tour in my country, in exchange for my honest opinion. I am neither paid by nor affiliated with TACables and have no incentive whatsoever, for writing anything positive or negative about the cable. The views shared in this article are my personal views based on the couple of days I spent using the cable with different IEMs.

The TACable Obisidian can be purchased from AliExpress. I'm including the link here for reference:

Obsidian (3).jpg

Aesthetics and Build Quality:

The Obsidian is an SPC cable with 50% Black Litz 5N OCC and 50% Litz Silver Plated 5N OCC, wrapped by a sheath of DuPont PVC. The connectors along with the splitter are made of metal and seem to be of good quality. The plug is a straight plug, which may be a concern for a few people, however, it doesn’t make much of a difference to me. Although, I’d agree that L-shaped plugs make it easier to use with DAPs, especially when I place the DAP in my pocket. Given that most of the cables these days have straight plugs, I just found a workaround for the aforementioned use case. The cable is soft and feels very good when touched. It is free of microphonics and has a convenient velcro wrap integrated, which is a well-thought-out addition IMO. Especially considering the 20 USD price tag, it is great to see how well the cable is built and how thoughtful it is of TACables to include metal components and a Velcro wrap.

Sound Quality:

The good news is that the cable sounds as good as it looks. Based on my experience with the KZ ZEX and KZ DQ6, I felt the cable improved the sound a lot more when compared to the stock SPC cable. The stock cables tend to make the IEMs sound flatter in comparison. The ZEX especially sounded more dynamic and detailed with the TACable Obsidian.

Obsidian (1).jpg

Comparison:

In fact, of the various cables I rolled on the KZ ZEX, I felt it sounded the best with the Obsidian. Other cables that I tried with the ZEX, apart from the stock KZ SPC (silver plated copper) cable, were:

  • FiiO LS-2.5A (17 USD approx) – This is a budget OCC cable from FiiO that was my go-to cable for the DQ6. However, the ZEX sounded a tad bit too warm with this cable. This could be because the KZ ZEX has an electrostatic unit along with a dual magnetic dynamic driver, whereas the DQ6 has three dynamic drivers. I’d like to mention here that the DQ6 sounded better with the FiiO LS-2.5A when compared to the TACable Obsidian. The DQ6 is a bit shouty in the upper mids and the LS-2.5A tends to tame it nicely.

  • TRN T3 (24 USD approx) – The TRN T3 is a pure silver cable. Both the ZEX and DQ6 sounded better with the TACable Obsidian when compared to the TRN T3. The bass body seemed to have more oomph on the DQ6 with the Obsidian. ZEX seemed to be more dynamic with the Obsidian when compared to the TRN T3.

  • Hidizs SE3.5-RC (30 USD approx) – This is an SPC (silver plated copper) cable from Hidizs. What surprised me is that the TACable in spite of being cheaper than the Hidizs SE3.5-RC was more supple in comparison. There was not much of a difference in terms of sound quality, although there seemed to be a slight improvement in details with the Obsidian on the ZEX. Perhaps this was due to the 50-50 split of OCC and SPC.

Conclusion:

The TACable Obsidian is a great VFM cable that has the potential of elevating the listening experience without breaking the bank. For 20 USD, the Obsidian is a cable I’d definitely recommend for budget IEMs like KZ ZEX, which usually come with a flimsy cable.

TACable Obsidian: Value For Money Aftermarket Cable
Pros: Solid build
Premium finish
Metallic shielding on connectors
Price
Cons: Suits mainly mid-centric IEMs
TACables is a sub-brand to Hakugei which is a well-known premium aftermarket IEM upgrade cable brand based in China. The brand is debuting in the international market with the first product, the TACables Obsidian. It is a budget replacement cable with 50% Black Litz 5N OCC and 50% Silver-plated 5N OCC hybrid structure. The cable is priced at just 20$, let’s see how good it is.
1.jpg

Disclaimer:-

The TACables Obsidian reached me as a part of the review tour organized here in my country. I am in no way affiliated or paid by anyone to write positive or negative about the product. All impressions are completely my own based on my own usage of the cable. If interested, you can buy the Obsidian from Aliexpress from the link below(Not Affiliated).

Structure & Build Quality:-

Despite being just 20$, the TACable Obsidian has a premium feel to it. The cable has 133 cores consisting of 50% Black Litz 5N OCC and 50% Silver-plated Litz 5N OCC wires with DuPont PVC insulation. The cable has a dark metallic grey color that looks premium with a matte finish. Obsidian has full metallic housings for the termination plug, two-pin connectors, and the Y-splitter. It has TACable branding logo printed at the Y-splitter and termination plug housings.
4.jpg

The cable is soft to touch and had no microphonic issues during my usage. Overall, the build quality of Obsidian is pretty solid considering it's available at just 20$.
5.jpg

(Please note that users can buy any termination and connector option with the Obsidian, I got 2-pin 0.78mm connectors and a 3.5mm plug for the sample).

Sound Impressions:-

I paired the TACables Obsidian with TForce Audio Yuan Li & Kinera Norn. In terms of sound quality, Obsidian on its own maintains the natural tonality and timbre of the connected earphones. But it makes the sound signature go heavily V-Shaped. With the Obsidian I noticed the Bass and Treble sections got elevated and the mid-range took a step back. This sounds good with Mid-centric IEMs bringing a balance in the output with them. A great example here is TForce Yuan Li. The pair sounds pretty solid when connected with Obsidian. The combo has a smooth, balanced sound presentation with a hint of warmth to it. It improves the note definition with Yuan Li too.
3.jpg

Though the pairing of Obsidian is not that good with V-Shaped or U-Shaped IEMs such as the Kinera Norn here. Norn has a pretty powerful bass response and the mid-range is already a bit recessed. With the Obsidian the midrange goes further away from us. Which is not generally my listening preference.
2.jpg

Final Words:-

For 20$, TACable Obsidian provides great value for money. It is well-built, it offers pretty solid sound performance. The only take here is it giving a V-shape treatment to the connected earphones that suits earphones with high upper mid-range energy or mid-centric sets, but for already V-shape tuned IEMs, Obsidian might not be a good match.

TACables Obsidian - Affordable goodness
Pros: Soft, supple, good quality
Makes notes slightly more sharply defined
Enhances attack
Tightens the bass
Commendable build quality
Cons: Not exactly exceeding expectations
Introduction:
TACables are a sub-brand of Hakugei, which has a fair reputation in the cable world. Obsidian is their first offering. It came my way, I gave it a fair bit of listening, and decided to write my impression.

Disclaimer : The unit was provided by TACables as a part of a review tour. My impressions are all my own and in no way influenced by any sort of incentive.

Build:
Exceptionally good build quality. Obsidian is built with Black Litz 5N OCC and Litz silver plated 5N OCC. The dark grey colour with clearly discernible strands looks gorgeous. The connectors are all solid metal housings which only adds to the premium appeal. However, the cable is quite soft and supple. To summarise, it feels quite well-built as well as comfortable.

1632906798033.jpeg

Sound:
For checking, I paired it with Yanyin Aladdin - a very balanced sounding iem, so that the traits can be easily discerned. Obsidian has a clean sound. It tightens up the bass, enhances the note sharpness as well as the attacks. That enhances the midrange clarity and treble extension. Overall, it pairs well with smoother sounding iems.

For comparison, I chose the KBEAR Warmth and Aladdin stock cable. All listening was done out of Shanling UP4.

Vs. KBEAR Warmth: Obsidian has a less warm and tighter sound, with slightly more brightness. The bass impact gets attenuated slightly. Clarity improves. A slight edginess gets introduced.

Vs. Aladdin Stock Cable: Obsidian has slightly sharper notes and tighter attacks. However, space between notes is less - that speaks for the quality of the Aladdin stock cable. Even though Aladdin stok cable has softer attacks, air is slightly more.

Conclusion:
Well, honestly, for $20, one cannot expect any better. A cable that has both the looks and the sound performance to go along with - yup, it's a win in my book.

New Head-Fier
Pros: It doesn't get any more affordable than this.
Desirable sound changes (tightens bass, opens up treble, brings sound forward).
Generous use of metal.
Cons: Strain reliefs look a bit cheap.
Disclaimer : The unit was provided by TACables as a part of a review tour but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Build Quality
TACables gives a fancy breakdown of the materials in the Obsidian cable : it is basically a SPC cable but it constitutes 50% Black Litz 5N OCC and the other 50% is Litz Silver Plated 5N OCC. It is all wrapped by a Dupont PVC sheath. The connectors, splitter and plug are all solid metal which is amazing to see at this price point. To add, the plug is on the longer side so pocket use might be an issue when you sit down as it might poke your stomach. The strain reliefs are the transparent kind which kind of looks cheap in my opinion, but not in a 20 USD upgrade cable so no harm, no foul. The material is supple and flexible which is amazing to see, and TACable seems to have thought everything through. The integrated velcro strap is SUPER long which is especially useful if you are wrapping the earphones in a tighter bunch.

Sound Analysis
In a world where 500 USD upgrade cables are seen as "normal", what can a 20 USD upgrade cable do? Is it any useful? YES! On all the earphones I have tried, the change in sound it brought about was very easy to notice and more importantly, consistent.
In simple words, it tightened up the bass, midrange was clearer and opened up the top end, adding more air and open-ness to the sound. This kind of change in sound warrants caution-free pairing with earphones but this cable works exceedingly well with slightly warm earphones, complementing them very well.

Conclusion
There is nothing much to add here given that the low price of 20 USD makes it a viable cable if you just want an aesthetic change for your earphones, the sound improvement being a bonus included in for free. It is refreshing to see such well performing aftermarket cables that actually make a difference at a very reasonable price bracket.
