Shure always been over priced, like most of the Japanese products..... but higher price and no improvement??  this is a ripoff ..... there should be non subtle changes at least... thats double the price here... no to mention the treble of this "flagship"....

I would be shocked if the 535 delivers the bass of the 846; frankly I doubt any other IEM out there can deliver its smooth clean bass, but all opinions are welcome including this gentleman's. Thank you for posting your perspective and don't let people attack you into taking it down.

Also, in my humble opinion, I think sometimes people will buy something they really can't afford (not a dig in any way because really, who can afford a $1,000 IEM? lol. that's like $1,500 in pre-tax salary; that's not a reasonable purchase for anyone) and then that will psychologically cause them to hate it and view the one they had as just as good. Not saying that happened with this gentleman, because I have never heard the 535, but it's something to keep in mind. Regardless, it was clearly not worth it to him to keep it and this could be helpful to others who may not want to spend $1,000 if they already have the 535.

ag808.  I was thinking along the same lines... only because I have been there NUMEROUS times!!  I owned the 535s at one point (and I think I sold them, pretty much due to what you are alluding to...  7 years ago $500 bucks was a big chunk o' change for an IEM!).

Now, I'm no stranger to IEMS,even customs (2c,4c,535,ES3X, TF10, I've been around the block), and I can honestly say (for me!) this is hands down one of the best universals I have heard (haven't tried the IE800s)!! And I don't regret a dime I spent to get them.  But to each his own.   Either way, it's nice to see another opinion.  Good review agis!

Tried the 846 for a brief time and instantly heard more refinement in them overall and I believe that sibilance is tamed more on the 846

by the way, I normally use my 846 with my LG G Flex phone but today I switched and used it on my Note 2 phone. the bass boost almost disappeared, because the Note 2's DAC is much much brighter than the G Flex. I wonder if that's what happened to the OP. You should try it with other phones/your laptop/other DACs, because one of them will be neutral enough to allow the 846 to demonstrate its bass abilities.

Wao what a shock I do own a 535ltd but I think is impossible that 846 sounded like 535, will try it in the coming week

This illustrates the importance of demoing and not blind buying to verify what the combination of your ears and your kit with a potential headphone purchase

The majority of people will have no issue resolving the quite obvious sound differences over SE535. Frankly it is not subtle at all. Even straight out of Nexus 5 and forgoing clas dB stack the improvement is apparent

P.S. I bought my set in Tokyo whilst on holiday where it is priced much lower than in the west

You have to have a certain number of posts to add photos - perhaps you should have a certain amount of something in order to post reviews - there have been a couple of "outlier" reviews by new members with zero posts (read: DX90) - take this one with a huge grain of salt.
