thanks for the review - it's informative with good pictures and everything.
I don't mean to be mean or anything but don't you think it's a bit "unfair" to put "isolation and leakage" into disadvantages section when it's open-back pair of phones? It's a common feature of every single open back.
True, its the part and parcel of the open back design, but the fact of the matter there is very less cons to begin with. My personal gripe is how i am unable to find complete silent space fully enjoy these at my home, i can imagine it would lot harder outside while commuting, the details are lost in such situations. I understand for a trained audiophile like you would find it arbitrary to distinguish the inherent design as a flaw, but i wrote this review targeting newbies and mid level audio enthusiasts with less experience/budget for
in the designs limitation, for them it could swing both way.
Really appreciate your response, thanks bro
Good review. They do have a wide soundstage, good instrument separation and positioning. Except for the Senn veil I don't complain much. For the price, the 598 are pretty good value. Also good for gaming.
1. What "veil"? This is THE One Sennheiser headphone with no veil...
If you're comparing with other headphones with more harshness into mids / highs, they are over-doing those frequencies.
2. I wouldn't describe the mids as "creamy" and "velvety", more like accurate, clear, and forward sounding.
3. I don't think the HD650 has more audible extension in highs. The highs with HD598 are just right, no need for more.
4. The bass in my unit is just perfect top to bottom, don't feel the need for more bass. If you felt the rumble with movies it means that it has adequate bass. Again, comparing with hp with emphasized bass, doesn't mean the bass in HD598 is not adequate.
I didn't post these points to argue with your review, just to let others know that there are different opinions, everyone interested to buy should try the headphones and not buy based on reviews.
