Thank you for compiling your thoughts! Hopefully this helps the curious to see what to expect, so they’ll be pleased with what they get.

Thanks for the Review amazing and i agree on most, BUT imaging on HD660s are the best i have heard compared to 5 and 6 series until now, even better than Sundara . Some games need big soundstage and i use HD 5 series also , but on competitive games i prefer best imaging and pin point direction .

About cables this is something that Sennheiser must have on their products , 1.5m with or not mic on all HD5 and 6 sereis would be great.

Thanks for the coherent review!
I ordered these the other week anyway, glad to see it wasn’t all praise here as I feel more I know what to expect now.

do you have any thoughts for the gaming comparisons? Coming primarily from the k712 and x2 as gaming cans.

God damn, the V590 PRO is overkill for anything under $1000. Have you tried the 560S on balanced? Or is the review solely based on single-ended connection?

@ls13coco I never liked the K701/K712's slightly "collapsing" center image. The 560S is more cohorent here, less wide but more round than elliptic and stronger in the middle too. They are still good choices and the K701 was my gaming's first wow moment. Comparisons are hard since I don't have near priced gear anymore that is most interesting for gamers but I recently remembered I have the MA 900 still. Could do a shootout in the 560S thread but MA 900 has long gone EOL and is very hard to get.

@lambdastorm I purposely only used the HPA-1 and the Crimson here for amping since both are single ended so no headphone can take advantage over each other due to the lack of a balanced connection for the 560S. V590's amp section makeus use of 4 amps inside when using the XLR out and 2 for SE. So in this case the HD 600 would have a bonus. The HD 600, as cheap as it is relative to the headphones of today, still seems to cherish such surroundings.

Thanks for the review, it seems we hear and play quite similar. I especially like the sound art of TD2 with Atmos for headphones and even more so as single player. I use the GSP500 for that purpose most of the time though.

Good review, with the exception that Tidal links don't work if you don't have Tidal so adding song names so one could search them up separately would be helpful, if only to know what songs you're talking about if nothing else! Cheers

I agree with your assessment, but, I like the treble signature. By the way, the cable with microphone for the other 500 series headphones should work with the HD-560S. Sennheiser does sell that cable, but it's almost $40. It should have been included.

Just saying, none of these links work for me. I’ve had issues opening EU links before since I live in the US, but this time they don’t even launch TIDAL and just go to a website that says “this link is inactive.” Just me?

Hi. I'd like to ask two question about these HD560S.
1) Would the HD599 original Sennheiser 1.2m cable with microphone work with these?
2) Would I have troubles with a smartphones considering the impedance and other technical features? (I know these are not ideal for smartphones)
Thanks a lot!

@DavideAudio I use my HD 599 short cable on my HD 560S all the time. The headphone has a “medium” impedance but a high sensitivity like a portable headphone, so I’ve found even the $9 Apple Lightning to 3.5mm dongle does a pretty great job with the HD 560S (no volume problems or funky sound colorations).

The resolution of the headphone is high enough that it does reward clearer audio gear upstream of the headphone though, like the Apogee Groove or even my HDV 820 desktop amp.

Great review, i also have the hd560s and i love it for gaming and some music, i say some because my impression is exactly as you described it, sounds awosme on certain tracks and genres while thin and harsh on others. If i were to get another pair purely for music what would you reccomend? HD600, 650 or 660 ? i listen to diverse genres including alternative rock from 90s, classic rock, hip hop, techno and house music, trip hop, down tempo, you name it. i need a similar sound to 560s but with more weight more natural, decent bass rumble and without the lower treble harshness. Thanks

JAR600 as in the best version of the legendary eternal Sennheiser HD 600. Stabilized, even more linear, cleaner, tighter, as beautiful in its expression and beyond that as there's less in the way. JAR660 could be a top contender too but since the msrp is still high the overall costs including the mod might be somewhat hard to stomach.

Also make sure to use amping that's up to the task.
