Just cant get my head around that term...

Mushy is like an out of tune FM station, but mostly in low frequency.

I got the black MM2 because my jotunheim 2 is black but ive been using it only with the lyr 3 which is silver. My modius akm is silver but is with the jot. just really digging it with the lyr. Trying to not just auto buy a second one in silver and instead get a silver BF2

It was a long time since the last build of the Modi Multibit. If your looking for a really good multibit dac with a real AD 5547 and not an off the shelf D/S dac. This is it.
For its cost it stands up to many higher priced dacs. It might be all the dac you ever need. Seriously.

How would you compare this $300 to $3000 or higher dacs ?

Seriously, I have 4 dacs here, one is north of $3K.
Blind testing, its hard to tell the difference with just listening.
Differences, yes. Subtle yes. Difficult to discern, yes.
The only way for you to tell is to buy and try with your stuff.
People will say your nuts, a $300 dac compared to a $3K dac...has to be VERY different.
I beg to differ. Sonically.
Differences in design, filters, power supplies, isolation, noise. Yes.
That said, I still like the other dacs that cost more and they do "sound" or do their job very well.

Nick there are audible differences, but they are subtle...worth the $2700 delta...IMO absolutely not.
But we all like nice stuff and our own vanities and bias often take over and well....
U must decide.

What I will say like in the review is the MMB2 may be the only dac you will ever really need.

When you do a/b, difficult to discern the differences.

Months after the initial experience I use the MB 2 everyday. More so than my other very high priced dacs.
With the Schiit Vali 2 + and a WE 396a tube its pretty much a world class price performer.

This modem is indeed world class in this price range....
