Philips SHG7980 PC Gaming Headset With Adjustable Microphone

Triquatra

New Head-Fier
Pros: Tight fit, removable/replacable mic (3.5mm jack!)
Cons: Too much/overpowering bass, no highs, muddy sound, hiss on microphone, hugh USB plug, short cable
I've had a few philips headphones in the past and I've always managed to pick up clear, well defined sound through them. This pair however have had their bass freq's fully jacked up and it over powers everything with no way to "reset" the eq on it. It's irritating and I'm going to have to return them as someone who relies on higher freqs in-game (hearing the crunch of sneaky players for instance is a game-breaker for me). The mic seems to have a vast amount of hiss over the top of it, though other players have said I sound fine: I'm not satisfied.

That the mic is detachable is quite useful, you could plug a higher quality mic in so that is a bonus. The headphones are fairly comfy but as someone who wears glasses I find them a bit tight on the ears, might wear off in time I suppose; but there is no way I'm keeping them long enough to find out. The USB plug is needlessly long, and because the cable is so short you'll have to plug it into the front of your PC, which leaves about 2inches of what looks like an oversized flashdrive sticking out the front of your computer waiting for someone to walk passed and bend it right over.

Will be returning them today and looking for a set that are clearer. Disappointed.

2 stars for having the removable mic with jack and not looking completely stupid unlike many gimmicky gaming headsets.
Entirely let down by the sound.
