The nozzle openings of the black tips look wider. How is it possible for both orange and black ones to be 4.5 mm?

@helloh3adfi,
It is truly hard to figure out such things from photos, as there is many different perspective illusionary differences which are not really there. Take my word for it they are both 4.5mm. I even thought there was a slight tallness difference, in real life, but they are both 9.2mm high. The one difference is the side walls of the Black, that and/or the material used with the Black ones. As such they sound slightly warmer and the Orange slightly brighter. Cheers!

@4ceratops,
So your giving me pointers on how to write reviews well?
That’s totally facilitating as I just checked and you have never written a single review here, yet I have just completed over 200 of them.

You are clearly straying from the point of what I wrote. My ambition was not to give you advice on how to write reviews. Rather, it was an appeal to you to actually write reviews and not just thinly disguised advertising... This is my opinion of your "reviewing" activity, and I think I am entitled to it as a reader, regardless of whether I publish any reviews myself.

@4ceratops,
You can’t even write a complete sentence.
“forgiven that advertising list”
What the heck is that? How am I to forgive an advertising list?

I apologise for any incomprehensibility of the above sentence. I only meant to point out the obvious advertising of the products of your sponsor, the Penon store.

So wait, you have purchased the products, but I can't say anything good about them or it's only advertising? And you like the products? And yes...... pointing out my list at the end (being not needed) is giving pointers on how to do a review, that's all it is.
By the way the list is included once in a while to give confidence in all the products Penon makes. Yet, somehow to list them, is advertising only? I'm totally confused?

Let's see @Redcarmoose. I try to ensure this product in both black and orange in the shopping cart. After your abundant amount of details described in the review that you share with the public, the size of the tips is not clear to me. As a general rule, I use size L with an average diameter of 14mm from different manufacturers and this is my size because they usually fit completely tight in my ears; the question comes from whether or not to buy the 15.5mm (XL) ones since according to your experience, both the L and XL sizes fit you well, with a 1.5mm difference? I don't know...
I liked your exuberant review of the Liqueur Series.

@jotaerre,
M : 12.5mm
L : 14mm
I would concentrate on these two sizes if large normally fits you. XL is extreme, but of the Black I could get all three to fit. Meaning of the Black M,L and XL. This is because the walls are extra thick with the Black. Of Orange (they are thinner) so if I remember right M and L fit me. But tips are funny as it is not really that simple because different tips have a distance of the girth which only fits you in one place. But because that widest area varies you are trying different ear-tips.

@jotaerre,
So what happens is each size of tips gets the nozzle end a different place (distance) from the end of the nozzle. This mean bass matures differently. This medium go in the farthest (into my ear) which makes the bass least because the inner ear canal is the shortest in distance. Yet fit is also dependent on how the outside of the IEM fits your ear too. So it is a balance with many IEMs being different both in nozzles and outside shape.

@jotaerre,
So it is like using EQ. Meaning maybe you want less bass then go medium. But just because I can get 3 sizes of Black to fit, doesn’t mean you will too. That’s why is the review I pretty much say at least one will fit you. Still remember the randomness of there being many different sizes of IEMs, both of nozzle distance and outside shape.

@jotaerre,
I don’t think there is standardization? So tips are all over the road as far as size.....and shape. Basically the bass wave will get deeper as the fit finds itself further out, until you loose air-tight fit.....then it’s gone.

@jotaerre,
Because the walls of the Orange are less thick they push back with less force, thus I could not get XL to work with the Orange, but did with Black.

@Redcarmoose,
Well, generally in the variety of tips that I have from different manufacturers, 14mm diameter in the L is quite common.
Thanks for responding, I will buy L in Orange and XL in black. I hope I understood correctly?

@Redcarmoose,
Even if you don't believe it, I understand everything you tell me. I just tried the size M (12.8mm) of the greenish gray that the NEO 5 has as standard and I had to go from a vol. from 25% (size L) to 30 (size M). I prefer size L: + bass, better tonal balance.

@4ceratops,
Well that's precisely what I told my colleague @Redcarmoose.
Thank you, it is of great help to me.

However, you could have forgiven that advertising list of all Penon products at the end of your advertisement, sometimes less is more...
