New Head-Fier
Recently, I reviewed the NiceHCK DB2 hybrid IEM , and with the product, I received these amazing eartips, which I was a little bit skeptical about since I thought they were ordinary stock eartips. However, as time passed, I realized that these eartips are among the better options available. Companies often include mediocre or very poor eartips with IEMs , but sometimes they sweeten the deal with better eartips , such as the Final E500 with the superb E vocal eartips, Moondrop Chu1 with spring eartips, and TRN with their silicone eartips. The NiceHCK DB2 comes with NiceHCK 07 eartips, which, honestly for me, was a pleasant shock. The originally preinstalled eartips on the DB2 are somewhat random, black in color, and oriented toward lows , which I did not like for creating a unnatural presentation with the hybrid. However, with the 07 eartips, the entire presentation turned 180 degrees, going from zero to hero. So, I continued testing the 07 eartips with my other IEMs , and the results have been great. After more than a month, I feel comfortable writing this mini-review. While it may not be in full depth, it's enough to know what these little babies can do.
Pros:
- Affordable
- Great technical properties
- Durable and quality silicone
- Isolation and comfort are more than average
- Easy installation on standard nozzles
- Package includes 1 small size, 3 mediums, and 1 large
- Available with the DB2 IEM and separately , by pair or full package
Cons:
- Not ideal for harsh IEMs
- A mid-size option would be nice (but for the price, it's okay)
Disclaimer:
I received the DB2 IEM from Nancy, a NiceHCK partner. The NiceHCK 07 eartips are included in the IEM package. I am not paid for this review, nor was this planned. This is my personal impression and review of the NiceHCK 07 eartips. Hype will not be included, just a few links where you can purchase them if you decide.
### Description, Material, and Other:
There will not be an unboxing experience since I received them with an IEM package. All 5 eartips are in a standard little plastic bag: 3 standard sizes, with 2 extra medium sizes. The small size is red, and you have 3 medium pairs in white, blue, and black, while the large size is yellow. These medium colors are nice, especially since you can combine them. Some people like to mark the right or left side of their IEMs. The material is silicone; it's very flexible and soft, so comfort is guaranteed. Isolation is more than okay, with no leakage (I used size M; even with size S, the experience was fine, while I donated the size L to a friend). The stems of the eartips are slightly thicker and are perfectly glued to the caps, ensuring a longer lifespan for the eartips. These eartips aren't fragile; the 07s are very durable.
A little disclaimer: kids, don't attempt these things at home; I'm an experienced and trained professional!
I don't encourage you to destroy your eartips or goods, nor will I take any responsibility for it. And doubt you will be provided with a new set in case you act like me
.
Since white is my less favorite color, I performed a stress test went full Jerry on 07. Tried a few times to peel of the stem from the cap and with hard effort I couldn't. I attempted almost all beginner mistakes when installing eartips on nozzles, which could potentially damage them, and nothing happened. In the end, I have tried the Piccolo, which is very famous for sharp nozzle edges, and some people have complained about how this nozzle could damages eartips. After 20-30 in-and-out attempts, the eartip was intact.
### Sound:
The NiceHck 07 are vocal oriented eartips, mostly focusing on the mid/high region without compromising the lows. Vocal clarity is very noticeable and pronounced, enhancing the overall sound experience. Disclaimer: Keep in mind that we do not all have the same hearing or ears, plus equipment and music could vary, so some of you may experience this differently, and that is normal. However, if you are like me in the middle range, you will be okay.
Low's:
The bass is intact, and on almost all the IEMs I used, the bass remained unchanged. The 07 didn't kill the rumble or cripple the sub-bass and mid-bass. On some IEMs, I felt the bass was better controlled; more about this in the comparison section. What I have noticed is that the bass was positioned slightly back, which is actually the place for instruments, while the vocals are in the front, not too far from each other. Sonically, this is great due to its excellent balance!
Mid's:
The NiceHck 07 are more pronounced in the mid area, with enough clarity. The vocals are enhanced with a clear and crisp sound; on some tracks, female vocals sound so magically close to sweet poison, while the instruments have enough weight in tonality. On some tracks, the guitars feel more prominent than the piano in the background, and I could catch all the notes and chords with enough clarity.
High's:
With the great clarity of the 07, it's very clear that these eartips enhance the treble. There is no hissing or harshness, providing you with a richly detailed sound. It's not overwhelming; you will get a more balanced treble experience, which, to be honest, is more well-rounded. This is great due to its versatility and can be used with almost any IEM.
**Soundstage and Imaging:**
While many eartips appear quite similar to the NiceHck 07 and share some sonic properties, the 07 has one more category where it excels above the competition: soundstage and imaging. The soundstage of this eartip is much better; it is wider and sufficiently spacious, allowing you to easily perceive the placement of vocals and instruments with little effort. This feature comes with great imaging, enabling you to easily distinguish between instruments and vocals, resulting in more detail and a better sound experience.
**Gaming and Media:**
These are great eartips for gaming due to their wide soundstage and imaging. I didn't spend too much time testing, initial tests were more than satisfactory and expected. I could easy pinpoint all shooting sounds and footsteps, giving me an advantage in game. Media as movies and TV shows are also enjoyable, which was expected.
**Gear:**
I tested the 07 on various IEMs from my collection. I won't write about all of them, as that would take too long.
**EW200:** Even though this IEM is my favorite, it didn’t work as I expected. Due to the harsh sound this impressive IEM produces, it was rather a painful experience than an enjoyable one. So, it’s clear that the 07 isn’t for reducing or removing harshness.
**Piccolo:** Positive experience; vocals flew around with plenty of detail. The bass is slightly controlled, the soundstage improved, resulting in an overall balanced all-rounder experience that is nearly good for any genre.
**Final E500:** Positive. Suddenly, the treble sparkles, and the vocals feel enhanced with a more rounded sound, while the soundstage was impressively good.
**Tanchjim Tanya:** Positive. The uncontrolled bass became more controlled, with vocals slightly enhanced. The soundstage on this IEM is always tricky, feeling a bit odd and requiring further testing.
**NiceHck DB2:** Positive. A game-changer, as the whole presentation of this IEM changed—from better positioned vocals and instruments to a wider soundstage; as I mentioned, from zero to hero!
**KZ Basstor:** Positive. This IEM is tricky due to its messed-up presentation, but with these eartips, the presentation is properly placed. Vocals suddenly come slightly forward, allowing you to hear them better, while the bass remains behind yet still energetic, which this bassy IEM provides.
**Trn MT5:** Negative. Even though it’s inexpensive, there are so many wrong aspects with this IEM. The glare is so strong that it literally covers everything—yes, I said ALL. Sure, the soundstage improves, but at what cost? To torture oneself???
**Tanchjim ONE:** Positive. The deep bass remains unchanged, while vocals are slightly improved, adding barely noticeable warmth. The soundstage improves along with imaging, resulting in a balanced sound.
**Chu1/2:** Positive. Vocals are slightly improved alongside the soundstage. The metallic timbre remains present, although on the Chu2, it is barely noticeable. The soundstage on the Chu2 is better than on the Chu1.
Here, I close the box.
**Comparison:**
This part is the most painful, due to the constant changes of eartips from A to B, and sometimes C, then again to A or B... So let's hit a few popular options...
CP100 are my benchmark eartips due to their transparent sound; these eartips don't alter vocals or bass—actually, nothing at all. They simply hold the IEM nozzle in the ears and provide isolation, which is their sole purpose. It's very clear why NiceHck 07 are the better choice, as they enhance vocals, highs, and soundstage...
Tri Clarions, while providing a nice vocal experience, severely crush bass to the point where it's dead dry, resulting in increased hissing that pierces my ears. Ignoring all this, the vocal enhancement on the 07 is better by two classes, while the soundstage is significantly wider along with treble, with no hissing or muddled bass...
Moondrop Spring—though not the same architecture of eartips—provides a nice vocal experience but almost no bass due to its design. The soundstage is mediocre; literally, everything that Spring tips lack, NiceHck 07 possess and excel in.
S400 (AudioSense, a struggling company—big tribute to them for creating this inexpensive and great eartip),S400 are vocal eartips with very similar sonic properties to NiceHck 07, but S400 slightly damages the bass and soundstage isn't as impressive as on the 07.
Final E eartips are great vocal eartips with a very similar sound signature on some IEMs, but the soundstage is better on the 07, along with the sonic properties that the 07 has and that Final lacks...
ePro EP00, while reducing harshness on IEMs like EW200 and slightly improving bass, is slightly worse in treble performance than the 07; however, it has a slightly better soundstage. This minor comparison took up most of the time.
ePro Pro01—it's clear that Pro01 is a god king for soundstage and better imaging than the 07, having all the good properties of its younger brother EP00. NiceHck 07 leads with slightly better detail that's barely noticeable. The 07 appears to be a more durable eartip, as the stem on the 07 is better designed, while the Pro01 is shorter and could be tricky on some nozzles. Both eartips are great; it's more about personal preference...
Radius Deep Mount created truly amazing eartips for improving bass while preserving vocals, but the soundstage isn't better than the 07. Additionally, vocals are better on the 07. Both eartips are highly durable, but Radius is very difficult to obtain due to a limited market that isn't open to all...
KBear 07—these eartips are very similar to NiceHck 07, almost identical; twin brothers! The only advantage that NiceHck 07 has is a better soundstage and slightly more detail with better sonic properties...
**Conclusion:**
NiceHck 07 are amazing vocal eartips for the price and quality, providing a truly unique experience for almost any genre of music. It doesn’t matter whether you are new to this hobby or a veteran; with these eartips, you will not go wrong due to their balanced properties.
