Is it possible that something was wrong/broken with these headphones? This is leagues off the mark from the general consensus.

This is a hilariously bad review. Much less experienced reviewers have written better reviews. Disgusting would be the best adjective to describe this review. It made me feel uncomfortable.

@flarex3 IMO what makes the review ''bad'' is that it comes across as unbelievable. Not from how you experienced the Aeon but because of the completely exaggerated negativity. I guess most of all there was a need to vent which is understandable but of very little use to others.

Question @flarex3 How many hours did you take to complete your review, and how many hours did the AFC have when you did the review. These headphones do require some break-in. Your review is more negative than I would have expected from my own personal experiences.

I'm about to get these. Can't wait to try them. Hope your pair or something else was defective, lol. You should've RMA them or something, 'cos it's hard to believe Tyll's top closed WoF cans suck like that unless there was something faulty with your pair.

Maybe you should 've powered 'em with a samrtphone, 'cos from the specs the Sennheiser HDV 820S seems could 've less power at 16 Ohms. Other than that, the seal needs a little playing with adjusting the fit. Also first feeling is that these are not really for low level listening, but at the same time they really behave great at moderate and loud levels. So I say, play 'em loud and from a amp that has specs at 16 Ohms. As for portable use, i'm getting enjoyable results directly from my laprop, decent class D output, so i can see DAPs and such devices doing a decent job with these cans as well. However, if one listens only on low levels, these are not really suited for such use. I would call these ear speakers more than headphones. Sound signature wise, i would say these are easily the Focal Clear of planar cans.

Those you've tested must be a faulty pair. Please return them and retest.
For me AFC's are the best closed cans currently on the market, considering price/value range.
