Magaosi is a Chinese brand that produces iems. They started out with the K3 and has since improved it to the K3 HD. Recently, they have released the K5, X3 and Y3. I would like to thank Penon Audio and Magaosi for the review unit of X3. The X3 is available on https://penonaudio.com/magaosi-x3 .
Specifications
The X3 comes in a black package with protective cover that sports the brand name, model name and description of the iem. At the back of the protective cover, there are specifications of the X3. The black package has a transparent film that shows the iem. After opening the package, there are the iem, MMCX cable, Bluetooth MMCX cable, micro USB cable, user manuals and semi-hard carrying case which contains packs of tips.
IEM Build & Design
The X3 has transparent clear shells and the drivers can be seen. On the faceplate on each side, there is a carbon fibre design with the brand name printed in gold font. The nozzle is slightly angled and it is constructed out of metal. The iem utilizes MMCX connectors. The X3 has an ergonomic design with a comfortable fit.
Cable Build & Design
The cable is made of 4N copper and silver-plated copper. It utilizes a 4 core braided design. The MMCX connectors have a silver housing with translucent clear and red ring on the left and right side respectively. There is a memory wire area section in which the cable is enclosed in a translucent heat shrink tube. The chin slider is translucent clear and the y-splitter has a silver housing with the brand name printed on it. The jack is 3.5mm gold plated right angled. It has a silver housing with grip. There is strain relief.

The sub-bass of the X3 is extended moderately and there is a good control. Rumble is presented quite naturally. Each bass note is articulated with a smooth hit. There is sufficient sub-bass quantity. The bass decay on the X3 has a moderate speed while the bass texture is rendered smoothly. The mid-bass has body and it is able to express the slam with a weighted feeling. It is not very agile. The bass operates in a smooth approach that is relaxing to listen to and there are no signs of aggression.
Mids
The midrange is presented in a clean manner with a laid-back feeling. The X3 is able to display its midrange soothingly and emotions are conveyed effectively. The mastery is good as vocals are produced with ease. The lower mids has moderate quantity and it can tackle male vocals with no signs of hollowness and dryness. The upper mids has slight forwardness and this helps to boost female vocals with extra intimacy. There is control in the midrange without any shouty feeling. The details retrieval is good with emotions conveyed well.
Highs
The treble extends moderately and there is no sibilance and harshness. There is moderate crisp with lack of sparkle. The treble presentation is not bright and it is being articulated in a smooth manner. There is a moderate amount of air rendered. The smooth expression helps to ensure a relaxing fatigue-free listen.
Soundstage
The X3 expands in a natural manner and the width has a moderate magnitude. The depth is closed in. When tackling busier tracks, congestion may occur at times. Positioning of vocals and instruments has a moderate precision.

The X3 has more sub-bass quantity than the B400 and the B400 is able to extend greater than the X3. There is better depth for the sub-bass section on the B400. The X3 has less sub-bass quantity than the OS V3 and the extension on the OS V3 has a larger magnitude. The mid-bass on the X3 has more quantity than the OS V3 which helps to contribute to the slam. The bass decay on the OS V3 is quicker with agility while the bass texture on the X3 is rendered with additional smoothness. The agility of the OS V3 allows it to tackle pacy tracks with ease. Each bass note on the X3 is being articulated with a smooth hit while the OS V3 takes on a clinical approach. The lower mids on the X3 is fuller sounding than the OS V3 which helps to express male vocals well. There is good amount of body to accentuate the presentation. The upper mids on the OS V3 is boosted and it enhances female vocals to be presented in a more intimate manner. The midrange on the X3 takes on a laid-back approach while the OS V3 is energetic. The treble on the X3 has less extension than the OS V3 and it is less bright. The amount of air rendered is slightly more on the OS V3 with extra crisp. The X3 ensures a smooth fatigue-free listen. Conclusion
The X3 is a smooth sounding iem that is able to produce relaxing bass, intimate midrange and controlled treble.
