Great review!! I agree with you that the sound quality difference between the Gryphon and the Mojo 2 is minuscule. If I had to pick 1, I’d go with the Gryphon for the whole package. Also something worth mentioning, from another owner of both the Gryphon and the Mojo 2, it will benefit you even more to combine the Gryphon and the Mojo 2 together (Mojo 2 as the DAC and Gryphon as the Amp). I’ve found that they pair extremely well together and with the right EQ and crossfeed settings, the combo will blow your mind!

@drummguy26 that's a good point and I think it goes with the Gryphon's versatility with the analog inputs.

Thank you for your great review, wish you'd post it earlier, I got the Mojo 2 already, no regrets though, as it sounds fantastic + I will be using it desktop with my soon-to-purchase desktop computer. One question: while using the Mojo 2 as a desktop DAC/amp, have you ever noticed any white noise, randomly interrupting your listening? Because I've observed this horrible white noise twice already, while having my Mojo 2 connected to my laptop. Today, I've emailed Chord Support for this! Has this happened to you?

@Nick24JJ Thank you for your kind feedback. Is much appreciated. I came across this issue when changing from PCM to DSD signals. When it happens I need to stop the playback and restart. Sometimes I need to unplug and plug again the mojo. Not sure if it is the same thing but that's what happened to me 2-3 times. The same was for the original mojo.

@Nick24JJ is a pity indeed but the greatest problem with the mojo is the interference with the mobile’s 3G and 4G

@Another Audiophile , ah okay, I see... I've never had that issue, I am on Three, but I have connected my Mojo 2 to my phone via USB-C just one or two times, to test that it's actually working. To me, the Mojo 2 is not a portable device. That's why I bought it for desktop use, exclusively. Portable to me means Qudelix-5K and especially the UTWS5, which I'm wearing all day long, indoors/outdoors. Welcome to Bluetooth, by the way~!!

@Nick24JJ i see your point and as a desktop is a nice device. Nevertheless, it has to be pointed out that a mobile joy is not. Don’t get me wrong. I bought the mojo with my own money but is far from perfect let alone a benchmark.

Excellent review.
I own the Mojo 2 and I’m very happy with it. Use it in hotels and around the house. I was wondering how the Gyphon compares.
Never had any emi issues with the Mojo 2 using ddhifi cables from a iPhone.
On the move I use the Ifi Go Blu and again I’m happy with that.
Bluetooth has come a long way.

Hello, thank you for the well thought out and detailed review! I do have a question, my use case is a little bit weird. I plan to use it as desktop unit (so I don't need the battery) with a somewhat small footprint and great sound.

I end up getting Mojo 2 (on the way). But for desktop usage is there something else that could offer similar type of sound (was drawn by the warm and forward vocal, at least from what I read) and similar size/price? Or Mojo 2 is pretty much my best option at the moment? Thanks!

@Hyde00 for desktop only use to drive headphones directly or just using it as a dac to drive active speakers? What exactly is your use case?

@Another Audiophile oh it will be for headphone only. And driving it directly. Headphone is Denon D5200 (24 Ohm). Currently just using Dragonfly Red directly on my PC. Goal was to find Dragonfly Red upgrade which offered a somewhat lush mid range and forward vocal.

I think I was intrigued by the Mojo sound signature. But I'm guessing iFi offer similar warm sound? Just wondering because most gear these days try to go for neutral/analytical or distant vocal and that isn't what I want. Thanks!

@Hyde00 the sound difference was very small as I explained in my review and is all down to features. For a desktop only I would pick the mojo because of its feature to be on desktop mode when constantly connected. Therefore you plug it and forget it.

@Another Audiophile yeah I was wondering if there's other desktop options that would fit the bill. But it sounds like Mojo 2 might just be what I'm looking for. Ok I'll wait for it to arrive first (on the way) before I do anything else lol. Thanks!!!

Great review! How did the mojo 2 and gryphon compare when you used single 3.5mm cable wit mojo 2 and 4.4mm cable with the gryphon? Usually, balanced 4.4mm gives me more soundstage/detail etc. Comparing 3.5mm and 4.4mm connection wiht other DACs, I've always found that 4.4mm sounded better. Whats you take?

@Edyeded86 other than power I didn't observe any difference in the sound. The 3.5 from the mojo 2 is more powerful compared to the Gryphon's 3.5 power.
