You should try to get a hold of Cayin RU-7 for comparison if you have not already...
Richer and better natural holography from Cayin to my ears.
The Ifi sounds drier straight out the box and the holography feels unnatural.

Interesting, but I'm reverting to RU-7 which is almost tube-like in the excellent implementation/organic tonality sense.

I have heard people talk about the Cayin RU-7, though I haven’t heard it. Really as I stated in the review the GO-bar goes into third position from the top from all the portables I have heard. Only beat out by the 1Z and WM1A. Sorry it’s not exactly the sound you’re after. Though remember it needs USB 3.0 and above to go to full power, when less power is provided it does what it can. For me it’s the perfect balance of warm, yet detailed, and better than the few other things I have as far as resolution goes? Cheers! I use it with a MacBook Air and HiBy R3 II primarily.

You really need to hear the ibasso DC-Elite. There you will have the top sound of dongles. I have been able to compare to many of the top dongles, and regardless of price, it has the impact, timbre and musicality that others can't match.

@jamato8 did you run it against Cayin Ru-7 ?
I'm always open-minded for my latest dongle to be dethroned - hence buying ifi Go to A|B...

Dongles are an item that I probably respect the most for sound value per dollar spent. Also they are a convenient way to access your computer while out-and-about, in a time when a DAP is just too much to take out-of-the-house. I would like to try the ibasso DC-Elite, and that’s just the thing, there are so many flavors to this Dongle endeavor! Cheers!

I hope I wrote this in the review, and I’m 98% sure I did. I said that I am not a Dongle expert here, though I do know what sound I like. But I only have a few of them. Plus probably only a few have 40 Dongles, or something, you know the hyper obsessed members here......lol.

Yip, nothing ventured nothing gained...always up to test out other dongles.....

Cayin RU-7 has almost tube holography like they reverse-engineered one of their higher tube amps for the baseline sound.
The default DSD hardware processing also gives the music a vinyl with more detail and dynamics veneer to it. I'm guessing the RU-7 might swing you with electronic music.
