Pretty hysterical little review here dude....I guess they really blow your mind. I wish this type of IEM can be test without knowing its price cause I feel it really inflict on people judgment in some contradictory way (for me it do exact opposite than you). What I don't understand in your review is if its a Wise Buy for people that do not take money bath but have, like all middle class from US and Canada, enough money to make wise investment in sound value as well as long term durability?

With TOTL headphone, we can have 2 or 3 end game pair, one portable and the other for home use, with IEM its something else....its less versatile sounding IMO and suppose to be way cheaper because of this aspect. Your right too about RE2000 being from another far away league than RE800. And nice headphone too:)

hi Nymphonomaniac, it's a bit of dilemma for me, I am very aware that it's expensive (maybe super expensive?), and unless I won some lottery I won't be able to afford them. But I haven't heard any other IEMs that is as good as the RE2000, and I am wondering, maybe that is the price you must pay to get that kind of sound quality and portability.

I mean let say I want the best full size headphone in the world, then I would have to pay up to $3k or $4k to get the headphone, and the amp, and the DAC (at least). Why is it justified to pay those kind of money for full size headphones but not for IEMs?
So in my limited expertise as a reviewer, I see the $2k price tag for the RE2000 sort of justified.

For you and other people, you may have heard something else that is close to their performance for less price, then it make sense to see them as being too expensive. For me personally, the price tag justified the sound that I've heard, can't say much for long term durability since I only hold them for a month.

Sorry if it's too long! thanks for reading my review, and please feel free to made some more comments, and thanks for the compliment, the STAX are a mighty headphones!

OH! STAX. That for sure is a good wise investment mate:) And you know, i'm anachronistical about this sound value obsession, as with my longevity obsession for DAP, and relative value of material VS pricetag. Perhaps this is why i'm fascinate by some vintage headphones that can pass trough time. For IEM, i'm way more severe than for headphone, because we pay for technology with the RE2000...how much exactly it cost?

We will never know, but perhaps Hifiman will have make more money selling the Re2000 for 1000$ I think as its really for a small niche people that it target, wider one will make more sell IMO As well, Hifiman begin with budget minded DAP and I don,t know what happen after this, but it really is an assumed direction....wich do not make me say Wow, cool that you share your best technology for 800 or 2000$.
