I don't understand how reviewers simply gloss over the fact of how cheaply made these are. There are unfinished edges all over the place and nothing about the finish screams $300. I get that these are entry level orthos but for $300, I should be able to hold a set of cans and get the feeling that they are a worthwhile investment rather than a liability. Their DAPS ($1k+) are even worse!
Look at my previous posts and you'll see a gushing review of the LCD-2 so you may think that I am simply bashing HiFi for their poor build quality but that couldn't be further from the truth. I'd love nothing more than to have another great sounding headphone to add to my collection but I just can't get past how little they care for production quality.
@flavorthirty Not yet. Been tied up in a few other projects. Thinking of going that way in the next month or so. Reports are positive so far though.
@podme The pair I got for the review were well finished and solidly put together. This is a stark contrast to the Edition X I reviewed. I think they are okay at this price-point. Personally, I see no reason for anyone to spend over $500 on a DAP or pair of headphones, but that's just me, and maybe my opinion will change in time.
