Well, we start having feedback on the sound now. A change from discussions on the plagiarism.

You mentioned it was heavy. Does hifiman mention the weight? I'll be inrerested in comparing it to my R10 (Sony).

Hiya, tour samples. Tour had to start somewhere. I've worked with HiFiMan for a long time now and I know their products

@Takeanidea Awesome, thanks. That's what I was thinking. Disclaimers seem to be a lost art as of late and they help me put things into perspective. I appreciate the clarification.

1: Can these do the holographic delivery of images the Susvara is capable of with top gear?
2: Seems like Hifiman has eschewed durability in order to sell their Bluetooth module with these. They are well known for fragile inner wiring and fragile headbands, meaning these might have a headband failure in the future, not to mention a sudden conversion from stereo to mono resulting from the single entry o the wiring. In my opinion a headphone of this caliber should be equisitively engineered, two inputs should be a bare minimum above $150. This design just invites failure- notwithstanding how good they may sound. I hope Hifiman recapacitates and introduces a version with two inputs.

Its SONY MDR-R10 not MD-R10
they produced about 1300 not 2000 units

and have no correlation with SENNs HE90 and STAX Sigma pro infect the SR-Omega was produce shortly after 1993 and is the flagship of STAX back in 90s.

I stand by my writings re other flagships Elton, but will be happy to change the 2000 to 1300 if you can provide me with evidence to the figures being wrong.

Hi Takeanidea, I didnt mean you need to change anything its your review, I just try to pint out the model name is wrong if you are going to reference the original R10. regarding the production numbers of the R10 I though to be 2000 as well hence i also put down 2000 on my own review on the R10 with reference to cnet, however, volks on the R10 board corrected me by telling me that only around 1300 have been made. I believe some guys around headfi will have evidences.

And please don't get me wrong I have no question that the hifiman R10 is going to sound as good as the original or even better with their proven modern planar technology, but is the whole marketing thing which going on in hifiman which pisses me off.
I sometime even feel sorry if hifiman did sponsor or pay you for this review since you can easily done any other product and being prise for your good job and have none of the critics from fellow headfier. But its clear that hifiman have planned this far by choosing this marketing tactics and calling it R10 and saying stupid stuff on the press release, unlike their Shangri-La where no one have criticise their similarities with the He1 or being its direct competitor.

I wouldn't feel too sorry for me, I'm just doing what I enjoy. I don't take it too seriously. I'm an adult. People must draw their own conclusions. It's a pair of headphones. The World won't change.

When you say “I've worked with HiFiMan for a long time now and I know their products”
This sounds like they paid you in the past for your services.
Just want to be sure we’re receiving an unbiased review

@boozcool Takeanidea is fair and reliable. If the headphones sucked, the review would reflect it.

Interesting read. I guess the set I heard at the Shanghai Audio Show this year were dynamics. I absolutely hated them. Love Hifiman stuff, hated those.

The world wont change because of the Hifiman R10 since its just another pair of planar headphone, but the world did change because of the Sony R10 and the development of biocelluose now used in processes food technology to benefits mankind.

@FireLion Nope. Patents for the name/design were not renewed so they were fair game.
