Great portable Bluetooth DAC
Pros: Smooth & refined
Cons: USB wired no good
have owned Hiby W3 for a couple of months now and I am impressed with it. The Wi-Fi connection is very stable, free of noise and of good clarity. Admittedly I have only used it over very short distances. All of the Codex work well. I haven't tried the proprietary UAT but LDAC is fine for me, as I only have CD quality files. Sounds as good as wired to me... The sound is very smooth and refined which I like very much. Nice airy extended treble, but doesn't overly draw attention to itself. Powers ordinary on ear headphones fine, plenty of weight to bass. The associated Hiby blue App with the ability to do EQ and alter channel balance on your phone is very useful. Especially for music streaming app with no EQ like Apple Music. This doesn't work if you leave LDAC into 96 k/hz 32 bit but I am not bothered about that. On my phone you have to go deep into developer menu to change Bluetooth settings, but that's not Hiby's fault...

Only complaint : wired USB not great - volume is too low even at max. Otherwise best portable Dac I've tried....

Compared : FiiO E10k is overall as clear but harder, more cutting sound. Fiio E17 Alpen, old fave of mine, almost as smooth as the W3, but the Hiby has an extra sparkle in treble.
