Interesting, I think I may just have to test out more portable DAC/AMPS, I agree with everything you said apart from the BTR7 not sounding clinical. I find that it does somewhat sound less ‘musical’ or dynamic than say the BTR3K which sounds to me, a touch warmer. The BTR7 absolutely cleans up the reply, it’s very open with a darker background but that sometimes creates a very clean bass reply. Obviously it’s down to opinion but I find that the 7 kills a little bit of the dynamics in the mid bass specifically. Other wise, it’s a fantastic piece of kit, it’s small, inexpensive (relatively speaking), the PEQ function is really easy to use, and while the battery life isn’t mind blowing, it definitely gets me through multiple days without a charge.

Great article, brother 🤟

Thank you my friend.
The BTR7 is not clinical or artificial sounding but it is not that organic and analogue sounding if you prefer so it might be perceived as ultra neutral and some people are not fond of that.
I am an old user of the BTR3K and listening to it directly after the BTR7 it sounds kind of dirty, not refined and rough!

Interesting - Thanks for your insight, man. To my ears, the BTR7 definitely sounds neutral. Which is nice, you have some wiggle room with the PEQ if you so choose!

Thank you for reading.
Unfortunately I don't have the Qudelix 5K so I can't help.
Maybe I should try to find one for testing.
