New Head-Fier
Pros: Exceptional build quality, clear, neutral audio from highs to midbass, separate titanium tweeters, uses normal speaker wire
Cons: Subwoofer has amplifier built in, so replacement/repair becomes difficult for that part.
I bought these old speakers brand new over ten years ago, and no computer specific system has ever come anywhere near the quality of audio that this system has achieved and maintained. The 7.1 setup is a bit much in the long run, but I can say hand on heart that this system is worth every penny if you can find it, it's likely still in excellent working order. Fit and finish were peerless when new, and still look nearly new a decade (and about ten moves from state to state) later. The 8 inch subwoofer, while only slightly bested by logitech's 10 inch 5.1 system at the time, was a touch anemic when compared to the quality of the satellites, and the amplifier is built into the sub, so when my amplifier finally died last year, I opted to simply replace the sub with a separate sub and amp system capable of handling the seven satellites. The satellites are built tough, with separate 3 inch speakers and 3/4 inch titanium tweeters and a seamless crossover.

I've been using them daily, with thousands of hours put through each speaker, and despite a dent or two in each tweeter from all the moving throughout their lives, they sound just as good as they did when they'd been just burnt in.

Speakers can be screwed into stands, stood on their side, or hung from the wall via a mounting recessed into the speaker body.

Even though the system is not made anymore, if you can find one used, I highly suggest buying the satellites for use at home, as the sound is rich, neutral, very receptive to EQ tweaks, and the quality of sound is beyond anything ever made specifically for a computer. Creative Labs makes adequate sound equipment, but their gigaworks division produces real, true, proper hi-fi equipment worth respect.
