Wow not even 24-hours and already questions. Thank you to everyone for reading, it is very humbling there is so much interest!

Q. How is the sub bass with the Fostex

A. The increased extension and impact of bass through the Hugo TT is really attention grabbing. It is quite desirable with rock, hip-hop and any music that contains bass beats. It did seem too much with softer music, a phenomena that I never countered with the original Hugo. In fact the Hugo TT and Grado GS1000e trades sub-bass quantity for more overall balance, whilst still being very visceral, dynamic and impactful.

Another very good example is Jimi Hendrix, Machine Gun. This stunning guitar performance by Hendrix attempts to imitate the theatre of the Vietnam war. The improved lower end impact and weight created a more emotional connection to the message of the song.

I have the Hugo but the problem is the amp section, especially the bass, the slam and hit is lighter than external amps, and the sound stage is smaller, not to mention the thinner overall body

A. This is not a question but it raises several points that are worth commentating upon for the benefit of the community and to maximise what readers take from this review.

For my personal tastes, the Hugo sound is neither thick nor thin. The amount of body and fullness is pitched just right. The Hugo TT builds upon the same sound and there is an obvious family relationship. If in your perception of the underlying character of the Hugo sound is not to your taste, then please demo the Hugo TT before purchasing given the heightened price tag. If you do not like something there is nothing wrong at all with buying elsewhere. A review is after all only the opinion of a single individual, informed by experience and personal perception. No reviewer or manufacturer would want anyone to buy something that someone does not like.
