thanks Peareye. It's so hard to come up with words to define a musical experience. If I've managed to convey even a little of the musical goodness the Mojo brings, then I've done my job well
excellent, creative, engaging review! Not to take away from your writing, but the possessive form of "its" has no apostrophe (although you see it all the time online!). Kudos to you my friend, may you write more such pieces in the future!
thanks for this, headfry. It's very hard to get the grammar perfect, lol. Or is it its?
Anyhow, thanks for the kind comments. I will endeavour to post more. It does tend to only be when the passion grips me. I wrote a review also for the K3003's but really, the K3003's are only showing their real potential now I have the Mojo. "Where will it all end?" I ask myself.
The question I want answered is - How does "America" on the "Close To The Edge" disc sound? I had never been a big fan of that cut until recently - some of the interplay of bass and drums in it are mesmerizing - my toes tap and I bump in my chair - You have to have listened to it. Again, it never did much for me until the Steve Wilson mix...
i think this review is more biased to what the k3003 can do and can't be duplicated with any of iem thus not really covering the dac itself vs another dac but as you stated iems against headphone gr10 vs k3003
You are right in the sense that I was trying to point out that that the Mojo may not show all its +ve traits with all iems or overears for that matter. I certainly notice a large improvement with the K3003's. However, does that make my text any less relevant? The point is that, to notice differences in source material (especially digital) needs decent transducers. I was trying to encourage owners of Mojo or potential owners to try it with upper tier phones to reveal the "magic". That doesn't mean the Mojo is any less capable, on the contrary, it highlights it's scaleability and true potential.
I certainly have no interest in comparing it to any other DAC. My goal is to put some reference point on how it made me FEEL. For me, as soon as I compare analytically to other products, that emotion is gone. It's a little paradoxical, perhaps.
Ultimately my goal was to point people in the Mojo's direction as a wholly engaging and emotive product to shortlist. There are plenty of other reviews out there to compare apples and pears. That was not my goal.
