Hello to you all!

A shoutout to https://keephifi.com/ who contacted me a few weeks ago and asked me to test this new IEM, thanks for giving me this set for my honest and sincere impressions and review. About CCZ, it is a brand specialized in budget-oriented earphones, it is a brand that was started in October 2020 and according to them, they have team members from all aspects of the Chinese headphone industry with over two decades of technical experience in acoustics.

The CCZ MC04 Nocturne is the new entry to the budget segment of 30 USD or less, driven by a 10 mm Dynamic Driver and a Balanced Armature, with a natural, musical, bassy and crisp experience. This set oriented to the budget market by a brand with a few releases who has punched above its weight like the CCZ Melody, resulting in an interesting competitor in the price segment and a wholesome experience on a budget.

The packaging is straight to the point, consisting of the IEMs themselves with a pair of M size balanced bore eartips installed, its cable (enough for using it out of the box, I asked for the version without microphone, but you can buy it with mic if you need it), the manual and other 2 pairs of eartips completing the set (SML sizes).

The IEMs itself looks well-built, with a metallic faceplate (available in 3 colors: Gold, Silver and mate black) with a metallic mesh as well configuring it as a semi-open IEM, favoring its airy and bassy presentation of sound, the body of the IEM is on plastic, with a very ergonomic shape, it is pretty comfortable and with a brass nozzle with a measure of approx. 5.1 mm of diameter to fit even in the smallest of ears, that is in my opinion a huge advantage to use them in long sessions without fatigue.

For the testing of this CCZ MC04 Nocturne I’m using it with a QKZ T1 cable with the included eartips encountering a nice level of isolation of external noises and a nice fit and seal, without exhaustion in long sessions.

How the CCZ MC04 Nocturne sounds:
At a humble 20-28 USD MSRP is the new entry by CCZ to the budget market, with a more than capable 10 mm dynamic driver and a custom BA, it has a very fun bass dynamics, with plenty of subbass and midbass punch, fast, defined and clean, well extended into the lower frequencies, its mids are very clean and transparent, male vocals are presented in a very natural way, and it is mildly recessed, with a not fatiguing pinna gain, female vocals and instruments sound very nice, mildly recessed as well but not veiled at all, with a nice mids presence overall, the treble is well putted, crisp, clean and transparent, as I mentioned before, it is well extended, the CCZ MC04 Nocturne is airy and has a wide soundstage but not so much depth. There’s a detail who caught my attention and it is no matter the MC04 Nocturne has a BA, I don’t notice any metallic timbre and the sibilance in the 6khz and 8khz are very good controlled, so this is a set who is benefited of source rolling to bring all its capabilities (cleaner and more defined, airy, more resolving) and enjoy it at high volumes, only worrying about lowering the volume to not risk your hearing!.

Its tuning is more V-shaped, forwarded to be neutral and decently bright, so the sound presentation is very natural, musical and fun, at the technical department the CCZ MC04 Nocturne is resolving enough, and it has a decent imaging for its price, handling busy music and sounds very good. It is easily driven even with phones (I got an old but g(old) Xiaomi Mi Note 10 pro with an internal ESS Sabre dac/amp who drives it very well), but it is benefited of changing sources, a warm source (dongle DACs or devices in general with a CX31993 chip for example) gives it a warmer touch as well.

For what kind of person the CCZ MC04 Nocturne is?: For beginners or someone who wants a “beater” IEM with a very capable driver configuration, and a neutral, decently bright, natural musical, fun and engaging sound presentation.
