I believe this is a quad BA? Is it a lot better that other 4BA's out there? Thanks for the review.

Yes, these are quad BA.  I only own one other pair of quad BA IEM's, which are the Westone 4's.  I also have EarSonics SM3's (triple BA) and Ulitmate Ears Triple-Fi 10's (Triple BA).  The Jupiter earphones are much better than the 3 that I listed.  All of the listed IEM's are very nice, but they can't really produce the same sound as the Jupiter.  The Westone 4's are extremely clear and clean sounding, but they can't compete with the "fullness" the Jupiter can create.  Meaning the Jupiter can provide very ample amounts of bass while keeping the mids and highs in perfect balance.  With the Westone's, they really can't reproduce bass.  Which, now having both pairs to compare side-by-side, I realize that the Westone's just really aren't all that great.  (in my opinion)

The Jupiter has seriously warped my opinion of all of my other head gear.  Kind of sad and kind of awesome at the same time.

Hope this helps.

I own Westone W3's and was looking at upgrading to either the W50/60's or the Jupiter or Lyra. A difficult decision. Thanks again for our input.

Ya that is a tough choice. My only additional input would be to forget about how many drivers are in each model.  I feel like the number of drivers turns into a marketing ploy after a certain point.  And don't forget about the Shure SE846 IEM's.

For me (just my thoughts) eliminate the Westone family.. that leaves you with, Jupiter, Lyra and Shure SE846.  And from what I can tell through reviews the Jupiter vs. the SE846 is just about a tie with a leaning towards the Jupiter.  So now it's down to Jupiter vs. Lyra and that's apples to oranges.

The Lyra is supposed to be a truly amazing sounding earphone with the sound leaning more towards warm and smooth.  Whereas the Jupiter (being quad BA) is more technically accurate.  But I have found them to be very warm and inviting overall.  (I'm a huge fan if you haven't picked up on that yet LOL)

So if you are more of a vintage/LP/turntable/tube amp kind of guy, then maybe the Lyra's.
If you are more of a technical/digital/CD player kind of guy, then maybe the Jupiter.

Take all of this with a grain of salt and do tons of research for peace of mind.  I honestly think that no matter which one you go with you are going to end up with an amazing bit of hardware.

I think i have become a little bit obsessed with the number of BA's. I was also thinking of getting 64 audio's U6 or U8!

HAHA, that's cool.  I was looking at them before I bought my Campfire's. In my head it works like this with multiple BA's.  So there is only "x" amount of area inside the actual earphone case.  So if you are getting 6 or 8 BA's inside that tiny space.. you are taking space away from the subwoofer's "cabinet volume" with fewer mid and high BA's you can then use a larger bass BA.   So what sounds better to you?... 2, 8 inch subwoofers or 1, 12 inch subwoofer?  And you might argue that the 12 inch can't hit the higher frequencies as the 2, 8 inch subs.  That's true, but it's a freakin subwoofer!  The 12 inch can go so much lower and louder without breaking a sweat. You want it to hit those low frequencies with both volume and accuracy.  And don't sweat the fact that it can't go up into the higher frequency range, that's what mid-bass and mids are for.

No replacement for displacement!! I know it's pretty cool to have a hole bunch of drivers inside a tiny earphone, but the sound is even more important.

And bass is what?  Like 30% of the whole listening experience?  Something like that... it's super important!

yes, and on top of that i'm hindered because our dollar (CDN) sucks right now. The Jupiters would cost me about $1,250!

I owned an Orion before and I was already amazed how ALO can produce such great, great sound with just one single BA driver. I also have UM Pro 30 and I can say the sound stage of this little monster beats the Pro 30. Orion is just lack of a bit bass if compare to Pro 30 but it is forgiven as it only has one BA driver. If it can produce more bass like Pro 30 I will definitely sell Pro 30 and keep the Orion.

I haven't heard the UM Pro 30's, but I do own the Westone 4's.  The Jupiter has more of everything... more bass, more mids, more highs, more clarity, more sound stage... just so much better than the 4's.  With the Orion's, I would just be sure to give them plenty of clean power and I'm sure they will produce plenty of bass.  But as you said, there is only one BA, so I'm sure there are limitations with that.  Too much bass will muddy the mids and highs.  My Jupiter's sound good without an amp, but they sound amazing once I give them a bit of power.  They aren't even in the same league as my Westone 4's.  I thought the 4's were pretty darn good until I got my Jupiter's.  I haven't used any other headphone or IEM since I got my Jupiter's.  Seriously.. haven't even touched my other gear.. they are that good.  I kind of wish I could have bought the Jupiter 10 yrs ago, it would have saved me thousands of dollars because they are the only ones I need.

+1 I listened to the Jupiters for quite awhile through a friend that owns them and they are everything you stated!

Nicely said!.....they are on my wish list!

So you don't feel like the Jupiter's higher frequency representation doesn't overshadow the midrange like some other people have stated in their reviews? Because I am fan of the mid range, I listen to a lot of stringed instruments and also love good portrayal of vocals from both male and female. I am currently using Earsonics sm64v2. Which has been a gem via the DX90-ibasso pb2/meier 2stepdance. I found the Jupiter B-stock for a really good price. Thanks for the review and get back to me when you can, it is appreciated
