New Head-Fier
Blon x HBB Z300 ($39)
Pros: Good build
Looks nice
Comfortable fit
Relaxed, laid back sound
Pretty good bass
Smooth treble
Good cable for the price
Cons: Occasionally bass is a bit muddy
Upper midrange is thin
Sounds better with powerful sources
Need to upgrade tips for better sound
Sound signature: v shape with extended bass and tamer treble

Overview
The z300 is a single 10mm dynamic driver iem. It has impedance of 28ohms and sensitivity of 115db.

Box and accessories
iems
Cable, average quality
Eartips 6pairs, average quality
Pouch, below avg

Build, fit and comfort
The shells are made with zinc alloy with a smooth texture on it. This has nice weight giving it a premium feel. This has the typical iem shape with normal sized nozzle. The shell size is medium, so fits comfortably. Fit is breathable and stability is ok. Score 4/5

Tested with
Source: questyle m15, fiio btr5, 7hz 71
Eartips: stock, spinfit cp100+, Final E
Cable: stock
Tested with versatile genre of music

Sound
Bass
Overall bass performance is good. It has a bit slower and boomier kind of presentation. As its a bit on the slower side, bass notes sound mushy. Sub bass rumble is solid. Sub bass has that good physicality factor. Mid bass slam is good enough to satisfy bass heads. It has good quantity of bass with ok quality. Score: 4/5

Midrange
Mids in short is relaxed and warm. Mid bass does bleed into the lower mids as it has well extended bass. Male vocals sound warm and has good body. But female vocals seem dull and thin due to the over all subdued nature. Instruments sounds passable for the most part but seem to get lost like female vocals in some tracks. A bit more shimmer would have gone well in my opinion. Score: 3/5

Treble
Treble performance is decent. It is smooth. There are some peaks in the treble but it is tuned well, it does not come off as harsh. Although in very few tracks details might seem sharp. In general Z300 has good enough detail and air to go well with the overall laid back tuning. Score 3.5/5

Technical performance (score:3/5)
Soundstage: good enough
Imaging:average
Sound separation: average
Dynamics: good enough
Resolution: average

Conclusion
This is a solid choice for a good warm and bass heavy set. I personally really like HBB’s tuning thus I liked it quite a bit, must say he did a great job tuning this. This can be the true successor of blon 03.

Build, looks, fit
The shells made of resin with a aluminum face plate. The face plate has matt finish, so no fingerprints. The shells are light weight. The shell size is a bit on the larger side but its pretty comfortable.
Fit stability and breathability is good, thus I did not find any ear fatigue in longer lustening sessions.

Sound:

Bass:
Bass performance overall is ok. It is handled with a single DLC dynamic driver. Quality and quantity of sub bass and mid bass is sufficient when the price and other frequency range is concerned. Both sub bass and mid bass has ok rumble and slam. They are well textured and mid bass separation from the mids is done well, transition is smooth. Overall bass depth is lacking. Score 3.5/5

Midrange
Its neutral and clean. The 2BA drivers are responsible for the mids and I must say its done quite well. Vocals, specially female vocals are crisp well extended without any hot spots. Male vocals are a bit subdued compared to female vocals but it does not impact the Transperant characteristics. String instruments have a sense of sparkle. Overall mids is nicely detailed without any fatigue or shout. Score: 4.75/5

Treble/ highs:
Treble is handled by the micro planar and pzt bone conduction drivers. Quintet’s treble is bright, airy and has really good energy. The transition from upper mid range is well tuned. It has good resolving capability with good body. But this might come off as too bright for treble sensitive listeners. Score: 5/5

Technicalities (score:4/5)
Soundstage is slightly better than average. It has good depth.
Imaging is pretty good for the price
Resolution and detail retrieval is also pretty good
Separation is good

IMG_5213.jpeg

Conclusion
Overall the Quintet is a great set for the price. If you like analytical sound with good technicalities, this will be right up your alley. Honestly from a value perspective I can not think of any other set this good at this price. Must say the kiwi ears team did a great job.

New Head-Fier
QoA Veaper 2 ($80)
Pros: Non fatiguing overall tuning
Good bass performance
Looks good
Confortabile fit for long sessions
Cons: Unreasonably priced
Bass bleeds into the mids
Lack of crispness in the vocals
Below average treble performance
Technical performance is poor
Sound Signature: It is neutral with extended bass.

Overview:It is a hybrid with 1DD+1BA. It has an impedance of 23ohms and 114db sensitivity.
In the box its comes with:
6 pairs of tips, quality is ok
Case, average quality
3.5mm SPC cable, bit better than average

IMG_4389.jpeg

Build and comfort:
The iem shells are made of resin. Feels a bit cheap in the hands but looks quite nice. It is light weight giving a comfortable fit. But the insertion is a bit shallow for stable fit. Score: 4/5

Sound:
Bass:
This is more mid bass centric rather than sub bass. It is quite enjoyable in genres like pop and hiphop. Although this is on the slower and boomier side. Bass bleed is present and can feel a bit overpowering in mid centric tracks. Bass texture is unsatisfactory.
This is not bass head level bass, but plenty for general listeners. Score: 3.5/5

Mids:
Mids is tuned to be safe! There is no aggression or sibilance to be found. Both male vocals and female vocals sound good, specially male vocals. The bas bleed gives it a warm and lush effect.
However, this is not perfect. Vocals lack the crispness and shimmer, specially female vocals. String instruments sound subdued. Score: 3/5

IMG_4390.jpeg
Highs:
Treble is its weakness, it is smooth but too smooth lacking in micro detail. Tuning seems a bit off. Pairing with powerful source give a bit more sparkle and air. Speaking of airiness, its disappointing in general. A bit more energy and shimmer would have been nice to go along with bass. Score: 2.5/5

Technicalities:
Soundstage is average.
Instrument separation and layering is poor.
Imaging is just good enough
Resolution is below average

IMG_4385.jpeg

Conclusion:

I personally will not recommend this as there are way better options in this price range.

New Head-Fier
Moondrop Chu 2
Pros: Better bass than than the og chu
Inoffensive highs
Build is really good for the price
Comfortable fit
Detachable cable
Price to performance is solid
Cons: Upper mids can be a bit shouty in some tracks
Treble is a bit unrefined in some tracks
Upper treble roll off
Paint on the metal might chip off
IMG_4477.jpeg

Overview:
Moondrop chu 2 is a sequel of the previous Chu. It is a $20 single dynamic driver iem with impedance of 18ohms and sensitivity of 119db.

In the box it comes with:
Eartips, average quality
Case, average
Cable, cheapIMG_4468.jpegIMG_4469.jpegIMG_4471.jpegIMG_4479.jpeg

Build and Fit
The shells are made of metal like the previous one. The updated Chu 2 now has a 2pin connector, which is a nice upgrade in my opinion. These are small and light weight thus giving a comfortable fit. It sits flush and stable. Iems itselft is made quite well for the price but , cable is not good. Feels cheap, tangles easily and the pre formed ear hooks are not that comfortable.
IMG_4477.jpeg
IMG_4476.jpeg

Sound

Bass:
Bass is slightly and tastefully elevated. It has good texture compared to competition in its price range. It has satisfactory level of punch and slam for general people but not bass head level. Mids is not effected by the bass.

Mids:
Midrange is tuned well although nothing extra ordinary in my opinion. There is an elevation in the upper mid region.
Male vocals are relaxed and fairly smooth. Female vocals are effected by the elevation in the upper mid. Some tracks sound a bit sibilant due to this issue.

Treble
Treble is good, nothing extra ordinary. There is decent amount of detail and air present for the price, but slightly lacking in the micro detailing. Sibilance is not really an issue here, although a bit more extension would have been nice.

Technical capabilities:
Soundstage is average
Imaging is good
Resolution is average
IMG_4478.jpeg

Conclusion
This is a solid one in the $20 range. I would recommend this to anyone getting into the hobby as it provides really good value over all. Although this is not an upgrade from the other popular $20 sets such tangzu wan er and 7hz zero, it surely a side grade.
Resolution slightly above average

IMG_4381.jpeg

Overview:
Its a 8 BA iem with an impedance of 16ohms and 112db sensitivity.
It comes with:
3 sets of eartips, average
Case, cheap but gets the job done
3.5mm non modular ofc cable, good

IMG_4373.jpeg
IMG_4372.jpegIMG_4379.jpegIMG_4380.jpeg
Build and fit
The construction is solid, resin quality is quite good for the price. I personally love its looks. The shell is over all is big. Fit is secure but not the most comfortable specially for smaller ears. This has a non vented design so the seal is strong resulting in good passive isolation.

Sound:
IMG_3293.jpeg
Tonality: This is a fairly neutral sounding iem with a touch of warmth.

Bass performance is good, not as fast but has good enough texture to it. Although I prefer a bit more slam. Score 4.5/5

Mids is natural and soft. It sounds great almost in every genre. Score 4.5/5

Treble is smooth, a bit too smooth resulting in lack of energy. Score 4/5

Technicalities: Soundstage is average, imaging is good, overall resolution is lacking. Score 3.75/5
IMG_3292.jpeg
IMG_4378.jpeg

Conclusion:
If you like warm and relaxed sound, this can be a good option.
For me, this is one of my fav iems when I just wanna chill specially before sleeping.
