New Head-Fier
Pros: Comfort folding for portability
Cons: sound leakage at higher volumes
I came across these at HH Gregg, the big box store. They were priced at $50 but were greatly praised by one of the salesman there. So I did what I always do when I'm shopping type in the model number into Google ( thank God for smartphones) and reviews were good. They were a new series by JVC so there weren't a whole lot of reviews yet. These were best JVC cans they had in this series there were a cheaper version there that looked exactly the same. The saleman told me he used these drumming at his church and he loved them. Luckily they were hanging in the wrong spot and had a duplicate barcode as the cheaper model so i got them for $30. Being the cheapskate I am I jumped on it and took his word for it plus the few reviews that were online at the time. I tried them out and the first thing I noticed how comfortable they were. Not used to this with over the ear headphones. They advertised memory foam and you can tell the difference. They were muggy sounding at first and bass heavy but sounded really good. Once I got them to my laptop and played around and the more I used them the warmer the sound got. Using the EQ help raise the treble and lower the bass a bit and I'm real impressed with them. Other than the sound leakage at higher volumes they've become my go to headphones. They fold flat easily and are great for throwing in your bag on the go. Sound great on movies too. I've always been impressed by JVC's quality for their price. They give you a lot of good sound for the price without having to dish a lot of money. For the price, they're great. If you want comfort and portability I'd check these out. They have good sound and good bass for those that like that. Using the  EQ will come in handy to make the sound you want. I'd recommend them and I'd buy them again. Thanks for your time folks. God bless.

I just got these on an impulse when I was waiting for my SZ2000.  The bass is amazing.  After two days in the sock drawer burning in they are sharp, precise, and deep.  They were at winners for 35 dollars.  Not as muddy as the xb500.  With amping they slap you in the face.

Pros: Privacy, clarity, beautiful sound seperation
Cons: The cord concerns me
My current set. My favorite and my private oasis. These beauties will cut out most if not all ambient noise like while driving in a car and household noise when the music is flowing. I became a fan of  music all over again when I bought a pair of UE 350's at Best Buy at a discounted price. I was drawn by the nice packaging of the artists on the outside wearing UE's. I was blown away at the detail and clarity of the set. It didn't cut out the ambient noise like the 500's do but it got my to buy these. I took it as upgrade, the next step up from the 350s. They were. Especially putting on the Comply comfort plus tips included puts you in that private theater. Its so clear with Jazz and classical. Its beautiful. Even acoustics and vocals are so clear. Most IEM's I've tried they sound great but you couldn't wear them everywhere and still hear music. These, you can wear them anywhere and seclude yourself with your favorite music. My favorite part about these and there maybe some sets out that do better but I can crank these up to 100 and have no distortion and the great part there is no noise bleeding with the Comply tips on. They're amazing. I want to buy several pair their so good. They do have a two year limited warranty which is great. I am bothered by the cord but I definitley don't use the crappy case they include. If I wrap these up in the case long enough they'll sure fall apart. As of now, UE has impressed me. I'm not sure if I'm ready to put these down for anything else. Yet I am new to falling in love with music again. I want to buy every new IEM of course but its not practical and not a healthy financial decision. If I didn't buy another set anytime soon, I'm very content. The sound, privacy and comfort of these satisfy me completely. For $25 on Amazon, you can't go wrong. Thanks for your time folks.

Welcome to Head-Fi, seems that you have gotten a nice start on the IEMs.

While the UE500 is nice and all, something like UE900 and other higher end IEM might blow you away with the sound quailty, once again. Most of the newer high end IEMs have removable cords, and if you are going up to custom in-ear monitors, the isolation will also go up to a totally different level.

Stop reading Head-Fi if you value your wallet.

i was thinking of getting these to compliment my UE6000 over ear headphones.  to the OP, you can pick the UE6000 up for about $80.  at that price, i am amazed by them just about every day.

Pros: warm lows mids highs
Cons: struggles on insturment seperation on faster music
I picked these up at Staples since they starting carrying Jlabs. I'd never owned any before and heard good things about them. They're very beautiful. They have real ebony wood and a kevlar cord. The most important thing is the sound of course. I'm a newbie in the audiophile market. I'm a die hard Ultimate Ear fan so right now they're all I have to compare them too ( only used the 350, 500 dynamic drivers). Anyway, these do very well with vocals and acoustic and offer a good clarity. I always start judging earbuds by The Beatles or Dave Matthews Band's music. I feel they use a lot of instruments and voice in their music.  Again, I'm a newbie. I've spent a few hours with these so far and their really great for the price I paid $20. I haven't tried Jazz on them yet another favorite genre of mine but I'm excited to see how they handle it. They advertise them as specializing in acoustic via the name. I'm starting to realize by experience and reviews that you can't expect to find the best audio reproduction from the higher price buds. I'm sure its a factor but experiencing buds like these and a few others like UE and Klipsch I haven't found myself purchasing anything over $60 yet. I recommend these to anyone who love acoustic and jazz and a more vocalized music. For $20 and the clarity these put on its truly a deal. This is the standard price of these at Staples, they come with seven pairs of tips a one year warranty but no pouch. Well this is my first review hope it doesn't go unnoticed amidst all these great buds out there. Thanks Jlabs for the experience.
