Pros: Sound-Build Quality-Value For $ & Pride of Ownership
Cons: May be underpowered with some cans.NOT for High Impedance cans.

This is an Auto Biasing, Solid State Rectified,Class A Single Ended Triode(12AX7) driving a pair of Triode Strapped 6V6 Power Tubes.Power output was quoted to be 1000mW into 32 ohms(High Gain).Hi Gain drives 400i's with authority & plenty of headroom..Power also drops off big time into higher impedance so probably not a good amp for them.
Build quality is excellent & at this price point I would say superb.Really looks like a $1000.00 amp!All panels are straight & line up perfectly.Ceramic tube sockets all straight.Does NOT include wall wart because this unit uses an IEC Standard Power Cable. You can roll power cables at will should you so desire.Unit weighs a bit under 4 lbs.Since power output is not way up there I can surmise the amp is NOT being run hard into Class A,this coupled with a Soft Start circuit will add years to the life of the tubes.
Sound quality is very subjective but I will summarize. In stock form with unbranded Chinese tubes & about 10 hours run in time the amp is pretty much dead neutral with no obvious frequency aberrations, average sound stage & imaging & still very musical.NO rolled off highs,NO sloppy bass, just pleasant music.
Roll in some NOS tubes & the amp becomes a MONSTER!With a 3% Balanced,1953, Mullard(Blackburn Plant) for GE, Long Plate, Halo Getter, 12AX7 & a 7% Matched/3% Balanced Pair,1959,Mullard(Blackburn Plant) for Brimar 6V6GTY tubes the SS is WIIIDE & DEEEP,tonal colors are fully saturated, wood bodies resonate with an organic quality you can almost touch.Vocals are sublime.I don't have a lot of experience with head amps but I do know good sound when I hear it & this baby really puts out the sweet tunes!

Nice review!  just got the amp, driving 400i with stock tubes and it's definitely above listening levels when I crank up the volume at low gain. Suppose my input signal is hotter than yours.

Gonna do some tube rolling and burn it in now

What tubes have you rolled. I have a lot of 6v6 tubes. And does this unit compare with the latest version of MP-301mk3 amp?

Pros: None
Cons: Microphonic Ringing
Short & sweet. If you own this amp or are getting this amp you MUST isolate it from vibration for it to work to it's fullest potential! With the chassis properly damped the tubes are stable, microphonic ringing & tube rush vanish & the music flows from a black background!Use damping material underneath(cork is cheap & works great) & a heavy weight on top(DON'T COVER VENT HOLES).Leave undisturbed for 12 hours+ so everything can settle.I CAN NOT UNDERSTATE HOW IMPORTANT VIBRATION CONTROL IS if you really want to hear this amp at it's best. Here is my set up.Dead cold & just powered up & the amp is whisper quite....Hardwood table(ash)>#2 VibraPods>1" thick, food grade,Walnut/Maple cutting board>Herbies Big Squares>amp/dac>heavy(1lb.3oz.x2 & 2lb.11oz.)polyresin figures on top of cutting board, amp & dac.

That's a shame. Perhaps you have a faulty item. I have this amp and after turning it on, it occasionally rings for a few minutes but eventually dims to silence. This happens less and less as time goes on, and for me, it is by no means detrimental to enjoying this little amp. My HD600's are not low impedance. Maybe it is an issue of impedance. However, I suggest you give it some more time. Hope you figure something out.

Gotta agree with Starcruncher. The ringing rarely happens after the headphone is plugged in for a few seconds.

As I stated,EVERY time the music picked up steam the tubes started ringing.Look at the set up.Cans were left plugged in at all times.Chassis heavily damped, there is no doubt the problem was the amp..Perhaps the low impedance did have something to do with it,I don't know.Vali 1 is GONE & Vali 2 is on the way.
