Pros: Small, light, no distoration at full volume (and then digitally controlled)
Cons: Far too much bass even with the bass switch off
I borrowed a K17 from a friend before making this purchase and loved the sound.
Since I did not adjust the bass or treble on that and the frequency response curve was perfectly flat on the Q1 http://www.fiio.net/en/products/44/parameters I decided that it would be completely satisfactory.
This was not the case. Even with the bass boost off the low end is incredibly loud, with it on it is almost unbearable to listen to anything.
If you like bass then I think that this would be excellent. Aside from the bass level the sound was well worth the price.

Bummer you didn`t like the Q1. I just upgraded from the Q1 to an e17k, and for my uses, they are very similar in sound. The Q1 is perhaps a little smoother, but I didn`t notice any substantial bass differences. Maybe it`s output impedance? What headphones/earphones are you using? The Q1 actually has a lower impedance than the e17k so it may actually be your other gear? Or just a bad unit perhaps...
