Just got the HD650 and having mixed feelings, help!
Quote: :D The room is slightly treated with a bit of 15cm deep basstraps with paper membrane in the front, but you are correct - that is part of the effect. I guess the fact that the rest of the range is so musical in the HD650 except for the bass extension just makes it plainly...- maxxy

Just got the HD650 and having mixed feelings, help!
Hi All I just "upgraded" from the DT880 250ohm to the HD650 after like 5-6 years with the Beyers. Beyond the fact that there seems to be distortion in the left driver (arg! never buy second hand from Amazon again...) the headphone sounds AWESOME. Compared to the DT880, the soundstage is...- maxxy

Need DAC w/output decoupling. Advice please
Hi Thanks for the replies. I was hoping that perhaps there is a DAC that will solve these issues for me and clean the sound for the amp (currently using a PCI EMU 0404). I will try to install the caps instead of the wires and update. Thanks- maxxy

Need DAC w/output decoupling. Advice please
Hi Thanks for the input. But why do I have to disconnect the white wires? Isn't doing what I did going to give the same effect?- maxxy

Need DAC w/output decoupling. Advice please
Hi ROBSCIX Well, Burson didn't really send me any schematics. They were archived and retrieving them would take "a few days" or so they say (hmpf...). I connected the caps like this (didn't solder 'em because I wanted to make sure they work before soldering stuff to the amp): ...- maxxy

Upgrade from DT880 2005?
I have decided to probably get me another DT880 (250ohm, as I don't see a reason to spend more on the 600ohm version). Was wondering if there's a SS amp that is recommended to go with the DT880? I don't mind the treble too much. I would like something that will bring out the bass + soundstage...- maxxy

Upgrade from DT880 2005?
First of all, thanks for all your replies @kool bubba: I have been eyeing the DT48 because its price is good and available in europe. Is the 25ohm version good? Is it comfortable? @CDBacklash: I have never heard the ER4P. How would you say they differ from the DT880 (SA5000)? @Donald...- maxxy

Upgrade from DT880 2005?
I will check out the DT880 600ohm. I thought the SA5000 is more of a direct upgrade to the DT880 or am I mistaken?- maxxy

Upgrade from DT880 2005?
Hi all, My DT880 2005 are borked from falling too many times on the floor (doh). I'm interested in getting a new set of cans that have the same signature/comfort as the DT880. What is considered a step up? I have the Little Dot Mk3 with the default tubes (am also looking to upgrade the tubes...- maxxy

LD MK3 question
Can someone help me out with my LD MK3: I have finally received the amp - I have restrengthened the grip of the tubes, put both DIP switches at ON 1 (normal 5 setting, for my 250Ohm DT880) and let the amp warm up for 30mins. The music hasn't changed much and sounds *very* distorted. The...- maxxy

[REVIEW] Beresford TC-7510 MKIII DAC (56k warning)
Herandu, I compared back and forth between the Beresford and the EMU 0404, there is a definate difference in soundstage. It's not a matter of detail or not, but a matter of distance, and this is something I can feel when listening to specific songs. I am still burning in the DAC.- maxxy

[REVIEW] Beresford TC-7510 MKIII DAC (56k warning)
I think it's a shame... I really like soundstage and was actually what I was looking for. I have mailed Stanley about this issue - if it doesn't resolve itself then I will sadly return the DAC.- maxxy

[REVIEW] Beresford TC-7510 MKIII DAC (56k warning)
I have just received the Beresford Mk4. First impressions are mixed (while using my DT880) compared to my EMU 0404 PCI: Pro's : Bass is alot tighter and more prominent, highs aren't so ear-bleeding (I can actually listen to Alanis Morissette now), detail is excellent. Mids are also alot more...- maxxy

Little Dot MK III
Now that we are back from holiday I do have some updates on the MK line. The equivalent of the Little Dot 2++ in the MK line would be MK III ($199) or the MK II ($149), vs the $159 of the Little Dot 2++. The performance of the MK II will be fairly comparable to the Little Dot 2++, and the MK III...- maxxy
