SA6 > UM3X, I doubt I got a dud, I'm not going to waste another 60 dollar restocking fee to find out. I've only had those and a couple sets of CX300 before hand. Main gripe with um3x was sound imaging was wack and distracting.

Well 8mo's average is my heavy (6-12hrs daily) usage, I haven't broken any other headphone cable either but then again I haven't had another pair longer than the period I could return it.

What kind of music should I test these UM3Xs with, for clarity purposes? I've tried various post-rock albums and so far the only that's changed is the soundstage, bass might have a lighter tone to it but it's very acceptable considering I was using bass+ components on my SA6.

I believe the problem stems from the unit charging, when I've brought it back home after extended non USB use the unit does have unusual sounds coming out of the headphone jacks. I've had this happen a few times, not every time it's charging it does this and it isn't that long when it does it.

Arrived at my door step today, so relieved to hear only the music coming out of my CX300! (hopefully SA6 next month) It's just barely wider than this 4GB creative zen I used the band with, otherwise it looks like 2 zens stacked on each other.
