Pro-Ject Acryl It impressions... Not good

Yeah, I think it's more likely that I'm blowing my results out of proportion than the slight height difference of the platters is making a huge difference I feel. While certainly a massive difference for me, I do do a lot of critical listening and have owned this TT for quite some time.   It's...

Pro-Ject Acryl It impressions... Not good

Let's call those thoughts up there first impressions.   The accordion sounding sound (synth?) in the right channel in Bjork's Hunter has convinced me that the extra definition can be beneficial. It was clear and moved silkily. Compared to the stock platter where this little delicate sound gets...

Pro-Ject Acryl It impressions... Not good

So I bought the Pro-Ject Acryl It and cork mat for my non-carbon model Debut III with Ortofon 2M Red cartridge today. I decided this would be a good opportunity to do a really pure A/B where only one variable is altered to listen to what this new platter is about. Also I must admit, this was all...

    V6's vs. 7506's

I have to admit, this ended up being more about the pads on my v6's vs. the ones on the 7506. Maybe also the age of my headphones vs. the 7506's because I tried again and still found the 7506's to be clearer and tighter.

    V6's vs. 7506's

I just AB'd these two together, and for a very long time I thought they were supposed to be the exact same except for the mini plug. The 7506's are a billion times better, much more powerful defined tight bass, far less harsh and smoother, way more detailed and clear. Anyone else?

    today's vinyl quality?

Quote: I figured that too, but the digital to analogue conversion would be done by specialized high end equipment, and it is probably at least 24 bit 192khz source material so that's heads and tails above CD and probably any DAC that is in consumer range.   This, I've hypothesized.

    Vinyl Problem

Any ideas why the issue would have switched channels, or also why it's more prevelant after the first track on the disk?

    Vinyl Problem

    Vinyl Problem

I just dusted off my parents old kenwood TT, got a new needle, and some sweet new vinyl to play on it. Sounds amazing, Thriller is pretty much the best thing i've heard in my hifi experience so far and I've never heard Homogenic like this before. It's going through a Pro-ject Phono Box II into...

What companies have nice watches in the 300-400 dollar range? I'm looking for a new watch and have no idea where to start. Thanks!

    I found a Sony D-11 today

I was changing the speaker amp for the Blockbuster I work at today, when I came upon it! It was behind the amp/dvd player/vcr in a cupboard and it looked like it had been there for years without anyone knowing I got all excited and was like, OMG it's a D-11! And everyone looked at me funny and...

    Heed CanAmp

I just wanted to post, I just received my CanAmp today and I'm quite happy with it. It drives my K701's quite nicely, definately a step up from what I had before... I'll wait on some more burn-in for more detailed impressions. So far so good though.

    Ontario Meet - July 7th, 2007

Put me down as a tentative... I could bring K701's and a Heed CanAmp (possibly my CE775 if there is interest). The problem is this is the weekend before I take two full weeks off of work, so I don't know if I can take more time off... I work at Blockbuster so Saturday's are big days. I might be...

    AKG K 701 owner's thread

I was listening to Kind of Blue last night... there was one instrument that sounded absolutely real. It was completely detatched from the headphones and was fully three dimensional. It was pretty amazing, but I'm through the honeymoon and I'm desperate for an amp, and probably will be desperate...

What are the most comfortable headphones EVER?

CD3k's, but I would imagine R10's are more comfy

    OMG... Best dream ever....

I dream about obsessions quite often, I can't remember if I have dreamt about headphones but most likely I have. I've also dreamt about DSLR's, PSO, Tetris... that was a weird one

    Head-fi to analytical?

It's not too analytical, its just at a certain point people don't hear the music any more they hear the sound, and until they spend enough money to make the headphones completely transparent, with everything sounding pretty much real, no one will be happy. I know I'm not

You might like to watch this 20-minute film about Greek audiophiles

Fantastic short film, I'm thoroughly impressed. It makes me even more enthusiastic about building up my system. Who needs money when you can have great audio?

    AKG K 701 owner's thread

I got my K701's on Wednesday January 17th at 2 PM, and they have been running since I am loving them... But they are ridiculously underpowered being fed by the HP out on my CD player I'm saving up for a SP Extreme though... I'm excited :O

Where do you guys get so much experience?

You tend to go through a few systems, and when researching your next step you explore a lot of options. So even though you only end up buying one amp or what ever, you learn about a whole bunch of them. Repeat this for many many components in different price range and you get more experience...

    Has Head-fi actually HELPED you?

I'd say its helped me in terms of finding me the sound I want, the money, I don't really care about, but I have spent COUNTLESS hours procrastinating here... like the last 9 hours... when I have an exam in 4 hours... I should study... but need to research amps more...
