Why are the HD595 so hard to find in stock?
I'm having the same problems on getting a new 650 cable and ear pads for my 580. I'm also hoping that my kc75's can hold me over until I can get my 580's working again.- vtny

HD580's with HD650 grilles
So how do we get Sennheiser USA to send us a nice pair of 600 or 650 grills. I need to order a new set of earcups for my 580 and I would love to have them toss a pair in with the order. If it is a part that we have to buy in a larger quantity then I would be more than willing to get in on a...- vtny

Difference of cultures (US and UK) - met my first real american today
On the topic of odd alcohol laws here in the states. There are a number of states that have what are called “Dry Counties”. These are localities in which it is illegal to sell alcohol of any type. This seems to be the most common in a southern portion of the US referred to as the “Bible Belt”...- vtny

Alps Blue Velvet -- overrated?
The biggest benefit of the Alps is the matching between the L and R channel. I have not had or read about a problem with channel imbalance in the Alps Blue. I know from experience that this is not the case with the EVJ. I personally had to go through 3 of them to find an acceptable one for my...- vtny

what was the most you ever paid for tickets?
$250 a piece for seats to the 1999 NCAA College Football National Championship in New Orleans. The kicker was that we didn't end up needing the seats I did manage to sell them on e-bay for 300 a piece and hand delivered them to a guy on Bourban St. It's a bit tempting and a little scary to...- vtny

Find out if there's something wrong with your computer source setup
I tested with foobar (96khz resample, 24bit padded to 32) on my M-Audio Revolution and the file sounded fine. I could pick up the 20khz noise at medium voulume levels and a bit of a sin wave sound at very high volumes. This was with my home setup of revo -> pimeta -> Hd-580. -vtny- vtny

Designing an experiment to detect differences between cables
How about any easier DBT setup that does not inculde a set of switch boxes. You could have a 2nd experimenter that "sets up the room" by placing the interconnects between the source and the amp. This experimenter could then cover the cable in some way and leave the room. Another assistant could...- vtny

The two methods that can be used to find the area of revolution are: Washer Method V = pi * integral from a to b of (f(x)^2 - g(x)^2)dx Where f(x) and g(x) are your functions and a and b are your points of intersection. An explanation can be found at Washer Method Shell Method V = 2pi...- vtny

I have a couple of questions about the best way to change the gain on my Pimeta. Currently I have R3 = 1k, R4 = 10k, R5 = 3.32k, and R6 = 1.1M. Using Tangent's gain calculator this yeilds a gain of ~10.6. Now I want to drop the gain to ~5 for my HD-580s. After palying around some more with...- vtny

Lord of the Rings - Did the Elf and the Dwarf Ditch the Babe?
Ok, I know I am an ubergeek so no laughing. The story of Aragorn and Arawen is a parallel of the story of Beren and Luthien from the Silmarillion. Beren is the human that recaptures one of the Silmarils from Morgoth (the ultimate evil and Sauron's master). Luthien is his wife and a elvish...- vtny
