Review by 'thornygravy' on item 'Sennheiser G4ME ONE Over-Ear Gaming Headset'
I've owned these headphones and I see a lot of people using them. And that's great.. if you like them, you like them! Looks: I was excited to get them. They look very cool without being over the top 'gamery' Build: For a $150 it's kind of subpar.. but sadly imo most of Sennheisers stuff...- thornygravy

Fostex TH600 Dynamic Headphones
I just figured I'd post some pictures of my pair because I'm in love with them. They were gifted to me by a member on here. These turned me into a Fostex fanboy for sure. Running them off a Schiit Hersey. I'd say to.. the average joe they'll sound amazing stock. But I'm a nutjob I did some mods...- thornygravy

Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread
This always happens, I procrastinate on making a post trying to figure things out myself then I finally do, and figure out a solution right afterwards. I put some butyl (basically the sticky stuff on the back of dynamat similar to blue tac) around the glue ring. Only down side is the foam will...- thornygravy

Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread
Having an issue with the metal grille on one side (I have TH600s but same construction & more people on this thread).. It's a ringing from resonance. It took me a couple days to track down the ringing. Looks like the glue is starting to fail.. I'd be down to remove the grille and clean off all...- thornygravy

Budget optical DACs?
I bought a FiiO D3 (D03K) for $16 on amazon to transport optical through my sound card to my Schiit Heresy. Long story short, I thought it sounded worse then the cards 3.5mm into the headphone amp. I know what you're thinking, "just get a USB dac" but the reason I want to keep the sound card...- thornygravy

TH-900 Fostex EZ-Simple Mods and other Fostex Dynamic Variants X00...Denon..More Bass ? Mid ? Soundstage ? Smooth trebles ?
I have the TH600s. I did dynamat on the cups (because they're metal and super resonant) & used tesa tape instead of medical tape, worked wonders. Concerning the foam ring adjustment mod.. I've seen some people say there's no difference.. but I definitely notice it. It's slight. I think I like...- thornygravy

Schiit Magni 3+ and Magni Heresy - Impressions Thread
The topping psu puts out DC and these take AC, so no. Side note, I was getting some hiss at low volume on high gain.. I took out my multi-meter and noticed the top plate wasn't grounded from paint isolating the metals. This is my first schiit product but I did some searching and it looks like...- thornygravy

Looking for like Grado & Koss but a step up?
Interesting, I was kinda looking at those! I also saw the 58x & was wondering which one would fit my preference better. Any thoughts?- thornygravy

Looking for like Grado & Koss but a step up?
I'm looking for a recommendations for an open backed pair of over-ear headphones. Something with similar sound signature to the Koss PortaPros & or the Grado SR80s. I love both these headphones, only thing is I'm looking for improved comfort & build quality. Budget would be around $150, but I'd...- thornygravy

Good clean power for the modmic?
Figured the least I could do is follow up with my solution. I thought most of these usb audio adapters would yield the same results but I was so wrong. I ended up receiving one by Sabrent and the Antlion one, to see if I'd have any luck. As speculated above, the Antlion is a little quiet but...- thornygravy

Good clean power for the modmic?
So I'm using Fostex TH600s my gaming headphones. I decided on the ModMic 4 because the 5 is like $200 bucks. I was looking at the desktop mic route but I use mx blues and my pc has a lot of fans, but I almost wish I did because this thing has been a nightmare. I have an old X-Fi Titanium hooked...- thornygravy

Tinny, as a sound attribute.
What does 'tinny' mean to you? I've seen various head-fiers describe a headphones highs as being 'tinny' but to be honest I really don't know what that means. I think of someone hitting a tin can with a stick or something haha. I know what muffled sounds like, harsh, etc... but tinny? I don't...- thornygravy

"Am I actually an audiophile?"
I think ~$150 is where the changes get minute. I think it's strange how hypocritical people can be. When my dad asks how much I spent on my earphones, he thinks I'm absolutely insane. Then he goes off and spends $500 on one gold club.- thornygravy

The PA2V2 Thread
Quote: I had a conversation with Gary via email, and he said that the PA2v2 was designed to power 64 ohm headphones. I had some concern about whether or not the PA2v2 would be able to power my Q-40s, and he reassured me it was a good match.- thornygravy

Headphones with detachable wire?!

IEMs suck
I love them. It's a "you're there" kind of feeling that's hard to produce with fullsized headphones, especially open ones. Only thing I don't enjoy is that iems make noisy sources more apparent.- thornygravy
