Stop me from buying a dragonfly red
Hi, this is just another way of asking, what is the short list of alternatives to the dragonfly red in terms of sound quality (can’t be more expensive than the red). I have heard the red and it’s good enough for me but I want to make sure there isn’t something else that is considerably better...- pufftissue

Chifi IEM for 11/11 that is airy with large soundstage
Hi there, Looking for an IEM today: I am a sucker for light, airy, with a huge soundstage in all directions, I also love sparkle on the top end. Bass just needs to be super tight which is enough for me. Doesn’t have to be overwhelming. So long as vocals are not veiled I am ok. I really just...- pufftissue

A few questions about the ATH-IM series: can you wear them cables down?
Hi, I liked the venerable CK10 before. They just never fit my ears. Nozzles were too big to really go in well, or they were too shallow. It's a real pity. What is its current successor? The IM-02? I would like to know if it can be worn cables down, because I have this thing where I...- pufftissue

What to do if Dragonfly (red) volume is too loud for IEMs?
Hi, On an iPhone, even the lowest volume is too loud for my IEMs. What are my options? After awhile I find the music to be too loud and would like to lower the volume but I can't. Thanks!- pufftissue

Sennheiser HD25-I II iphone control cable? Will the one for the Amperior work?
Hi, I am seeking an iPhone remote control extension cable that I can substitute for my HD25-I ii. If I could obtain one, is the Amperior's iphone remote easily substitutable? Any ideas where I can buy the right accessory?- pufftissue

I can recommend the Audio Technica CK-10s for durability
They were in my jacket pocket, and I totally forgot about them. Put the jacket on extra long wash cycle (hot water). Took the jacket out and still hadn't realized that my CK-10s were in the pocket. So I dried the jacket in the dryer for an hour. Only after the dry cycle was completely done...- pufftissue

Ultimate Ears TriplFi10 Equivalent in the Headphone world?
Hi, I enjoy the Triplefi10s but can't fit them without a great deal of gymnastics. But the sound is perfect. Which portable headphone or full size best duplicates this sound? What I enjoy most are its wide soundstage, the open and airy feel (I love that air!), and the sparkle in the...- pufftissue

I know what I want in an IEM, but does this exist? (TF10 but better)
Hello, I like the Ultimate Ears TriplfeFi10. I'd be satisfied with them, period. Problem is, I can't get a good fit. I even sent them off for custom re-shelling. I got ear impressions made, and Fisher Audio did the reshells. I sent them back and forth three - four times until Fisher...- pufftissue

b&w c5 --where to audition?
Hello, Are there places where you can audition these? Or at least pick them up at retail? The apple site has them at 2-3 weeks shipping but I'm not sure if the apple stores typically stock the C5. Thanks- pufftissue

Would you buy the B&W p5 because they sounded good when you audition them or buy something else on faith?
I know that there are more highly rated headphones in the $300 price range here, but none of them can easily be auditioned. I have heard the p5 and think that they are wonderful sonically and comfort wise. Plus they seem to be pretty compact for full-size headphones. I do feel that they...- pufftissue

HiFiMan products--are they all poorly built?
Hello, Are the RE0, Re-Zero, 262, etc models all poorly built, or is it just the RE0? I'm trying to figure out if this company, based in China, is capable of making IEMs that are built to last. I more or less do not expect great customer service, but I usually don't need it if the...- pufftissue

What sounds just like a RE0 (re-zero), but actually won't break
Hello, Has Hifiman fixed the RE0 cord issues as of December 2011? Mine broke within about 2 months, and they were not abused. They were kept in a chest jacket pocket but not a jean pocket. None of my other IEMs have ever broken as fast as these. Lo and behold, the forums are filled with...- pufftissue

It's 2011 now. Best bang for your buck usb soundcard; just for listening, no recording needed
Hi, It's 2007. I recall having an EMU 0404 pci-based card in my desktop. I hooked it up to Klipsch 2.1 thx speakers and thought that sounded wonderful. (I'm not into super high end audio). I never believed in sound cards before, but I was shocked at how nice the music sounded with that. My...- pufftissue

Audio Technica CK-10 successor? CK-10 availability?
Hi, So I'm told that if I like the UE Triple Fis, and I love them, then the CK-10s are for me. The CK-10s sound similar, but they are: built to last, have no microphonics, and are extremely comfortable. Are these true statements? If so, I want a new pair. But to my dismay, are...- pufftissue

What if you have sensitive hearing, small/weird-shaped canals, want isolation, and care supremely about comfort?
That's me. Ultimate Ears Triple Fi had wonderful sound. Perfect, really. But they were just too big to put into my ears. I tried the ear impression thing but I could never get an impression that sealed well, and I wasn't about to pay more money to try again. I have no idea what...- pufftissue

Need a volume control attenuator cable that is straight angle, i.e. non-right angle
Hi, My volume attenuator is a Shure volume control, which ends in a right angle. Unfortunately, my iphone case and many others won't accept a right angle plug; it must be a straight angle. Does anyone know of a volume attenuator cable that ends in a straight angle? I can't seem to...- pufftissue

Zune 16 gb flash player sound quality opinions?
Hi, Where does this little guy rank on the sound quality meter? What chip does it use? I just got done trying a Sony 8 gb 438 player, whose sound quality was excellent, but I want a rating system and on the go playlists, etc. Zune still does not support unicode, right? Thanks- pufftissue

Sony NWZ E-438 lightning review (8 gb black)
Sound quality: Very good. My reference is my 5g ipod video with Wolfson DAC. I don't know what this Sony uses, but it's not worse, not better, just different. It is warm, balanced, thick, rich, and has tight, full bass. It shines best in the low end. It also has a wide soundstage, and...- pufftissue

Need ipod 5G sound, but in a smaller package
So I love my 2005 ipod 5G sound (wolfson chip), and I've gotten the 4g nano and the Fuze, and the sound quality ain't going to cut it for me. Nothing is wrong with the Fuze's SQ, except that it's not my ipod 5G. I just think that highly of the 5g sound. Unfortunately, I'd like a smaller player...- pufftissue

Shure e530's lowest volume is too loud for me
Hi, I personally think that after about 30 min my ears become adjusted or something to the Shure e530 on my 5g ipod. I find the lowest ipod volume setting to be too loud. I've not had this problem with any other IEMs before. Anything that I can do about it, or am I in the minority here?- pufftissue

I ordered the D5000 even though I have D2000. Will I regret this?
I could not STAND the curiosity and ordered the Denon D5000's. Do you think I'm going to be disappointed or will the improvements be very apparent? Money is not a huge issue to me as while classy headphones are a luxury, in a few months I won't notice the extra $200 out of my wallet. I use...- pufftissue

Is this awkward? Corda 2Move + SR-225, Shure E530, Ety ER-4P
These are the components that I have. I'm listening via the usb-dac and sometimes via 5G ipod at usually 320 kbps mp3s. At first, the 2Move didn't make a big difference, but for whatever reason, man, it's a huge difference in the sound of my SR-225. I enjoy the Grado sound where the...- pufftissue

Meier Audio Corda 2Move Loose Headphone Jack is By Design?
Hi, Just got a Corda 2Move in the mail and the headphone jack doesn't maintain a solid connection. It'll crackle and if I breathe wrong, the sound will shift only to the left ear. This is with no battery in the amp (powered off of usb). Then I read the manual and it says that you need a...- pufftissue
