The AKG K550 Impressions and Discussion Thread!
I have a few times, tied a headband around the k550's to get a richer and better sounding bass. I have been always thinking about some way to modify them to get a tighter clamp. Bending the headband helped but they could use more. I think that maybe a C shaped piece of wood glued to the band...- SirG

This is my third review. My opinion has changed each time, now I feel I am beginning to really know these phones. I am very satisfied with my purchase. When I put in a request for an overall balanced closed headphones with a slight warmth.. these are exactly that, and for the price I would...- SirG

The AKG K550 Impressions and Discussion Thread!
I just got mine a few days ago. Initially I was pretty disappointed because they didn't sound as good as my similarly priced 4-year old q-jays. They had more bass range and power but it wasn't as tight. Things sounded distant. Then I pulled the headband farther forward and everything sounded...- SirG

Quote: Reading the reviews of the K550, it sounds like exactly what I was looking for, fairly balanced slightly warm. But then it says this on the wall of fame: "This headphone was retired due to the introduction of the UE6000, which I feel is a significantly more balanced...- SirG

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum
(Edit: Everyone's posts are size 13 font, and I can't choose that so it's 14...) I'm looking for a headphone for music. I love my IEMs but they are old and getting worn out, and it seems like I can get a better sound for the money with full size phones. Budget: $200-$260, £130 to...- SirG

Buying portable or in-ear headphones? Seeking guidance? DON'T START A NEW THREAD. Ask for advice HERE!
Quote: Great, thank you so much. I have read through a few tutorials and learned a lot, and then I looked at 20 or 30 reviews on Rinchoi's site and realized that just because my q-jays are slightly quieter in the left ear, it's not worth it to replace them because from what I have...- SirG

Buying portable or in-ear headphones? Seeking guidance? DON'T START A NEW THREAD. Ask for advice HERE!
I have had q-jays for almost 5 years and am considering replacing them because the left side is quieter than the right. I bought them because their frequency response curve was almost completely flat, which I thought was a good thing, and it mostly was. But recently I found out about these equal...- SirG

Thank you Head-Fi
Almost two years ago now, after finding out that stock i-Pod ear buds are crappy sounding, I came to this forum to get suggestions for which "ear buds" to buy: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/sug...please-297637/ After many thoughtful responses from members, I disregarded them all and...- SirG

Suggest ~150 dollar IEMs for me please
I thought I was going to order some new buds for myself as my Christmas present this year. Then when I found this forum I found myself reading for months, delaying my purchase for quite a long time. I tried to make an informed decision on reading this board alone because I didn't want to have to...- SirG
