    Best Soundstage/Imaging

The Philips 890 have a really wide soundstage, so much that it is almost unrealistic. Sony headphones are usually very good at soundstage as well.

    Where is Sennheiser 3-line?

Where is the Sennheiser HD-3** line? They were on the market a few years ago but now they are all gone. They are supposely replaced by the 4-line but they aren't as good as the 3-line. I'm starting to realize that the 3-line was very good. Even more expensive headphones find it tough to match...

    Can transients damage HPs

Everytime I turn my amp on it becomes a burst in the headphone. It is pretty loud. Can this transient damage headphones if it is done frequently.

    Received the Phillips 890s today

I'm starting to realize that the Sennheiser HD-340 that I had before had a quite large soundstage. They were also open headhpones in all ends which probably made the soundstage big. I probably got used to them and moving to more closed headphones felt that the spatial effect got lost. I still...

    Received the Phillips 890s today

LTUCCI1924, nice you like the Philips 890s. I bought the Philips too and liked them. They will be my workhorse from now on. They are especially good computer gaming as you can hear spatial sound fx very clearly with them due to the good soundstage. I feel that they are well balanced in the audio...

When are we going to see a "headplug"

At the current time we are able to make hearing impaired people hear again with an inplant into the skull. The implant stimulated the hearing nerves so that they signal to the brain. This technique may be in very early stages as it only covers very few frequencies. Imagine this technique...

    How hard can it be

After investigated the headphone market for some good ones I discovered that headphones are really difficult to get right. I noticed that headphones from the same brand and the same series could sound completely different. The Sony MDR-CD780 and CD580 were in the same line but sounded like two...

    bought the HP890

I bought these for 65€ and they very good. The soundstage is simply excellent, greater than most headphones out there. The is good and punchy. Over all, these are great for the price.

    Sony CD580 and Philips HP890

I continued my headphone safari and bought a pair of Sony MDR-CD580. The sound quality was quite good with a very good bass sound. The problem with them is that they don't have enough soundstage. I returned them and bought a pair of Philips HP890. The 890 has great sound, good bass, good...

    Modern bass exaggeration

You got a point there. Aren't there rules about the levels when mastering the music? Just in recent years I've personally seen a deprture from that. Isn't it the job of the amplifier to create the "loudness" effect and not the CD.

    Modern bass exaggeration

While looking at several headphones I'm starting to notice that in modern days headphone manufacturers seem to exaggerate the bass a bit too much. A decade ago the bass was not as prominent on headphones as it is today. Many headphones today seem to drive bass too easily and a simple bass guitar...

I've actually seen a pillow with built in speakers.

How long do headphones usually last?

I can give you a practical example of that. Sennheiser HD-340. Daily use of 8 years teared them down. It was actually not the headphones that broke down but the cord. Too bad the cord couldn't be replaced. I think it was worth the 60€ I spend on them.

    Bang & Olufsen headphones

I tried B&O form 2 today and I can say that the sound is OK. The sound spread (soundstage) is a bit poor though. I think the comfort of the form 2 is not good at all. They sit too tight on the head and the contact area is too small. I also tested Sony MDR-CD380 and they sounded pretty good...

    Bang & Olufsen headphones

    Bang & Olufsen headphones

Bang & Olfusen are known for making great speakers. I know that have made headphones as well, A8 and form 2. Do anyone here have experience with them and know how good they are?

    Sound spread

I'm trying a lot of different headphones right now and I've found out that they are very different. One thing I notice is that headphones seems to spread the sound very differently. Some headphones seems to not spread the sound at all and normal speech from the radio feels like they're talking...

    Please guide me

My source is usually my TV or my amp. The amp is connected to my computer, CD, FM-tuner e.t.c. I usually listen to MP3s. The amp is an old Philips 60W amp (FA1145). Not really high end equipment but I'm using headphones all the time so I want someones that are nice for my ears.

    Please guide me

My beloved Sennheiser HD-340 has broken down after 8 years of daily use. Too bad that line has been discontinued as I would have bought the same pair again. They were simply great for my use. This time I want to try a little bit more expensive ones as I use headphones only (I have no speakers...
