Review by 'P.F. Jo' on item 'Etymotic Research HF5 Portable In-Ear Earphones'

These phones are great, for their value, even at retail price these are quite good.   Though I do not have past exp. with other etymotics, I could sum these as very clear, tight bass but not lacking, unless the track you're playing is. the mids are a little emphasized, but it's not too...

I've been investigating possible portable iem's and it appears that under that budget, the best choice is the triplefi's... but before deciding i'd like your opinions about it.   They'll be used with a PMP mostly, unamped, FLAC files though, playing progressive/heavy rock so instrument...

Is my audio equipment any good for headphones?

Hi Hybrys,   Thanks a LOT for the input, that's exactly what I was asking, lots of people in this forum says that most of the hi-end phones would require dedicated headphone amp, and I was wondering if I could use the mixer for that, and from what I understand of your post, It is more than...

Is my audio equipment any good for headphones?

Hi,   No, I meant exactly what I wrote, XtremeMusic. Which IS a X-Fi Based PCI soundcard.   Check your facts.   But regardless, what I'm interested to understand is the mixer part.   Thanks.

Is my audio equipment any good for headphones?

Hey,   Regardless of the quality of my Soundcard, can the mixer be considered a dedicated headphone amp? or is it no better than straight from the PC?   Thanks.

Hey,   Great, I'd like to read how do they impress you.   What's the diff between K240S to MKII?   ATM, the ATH-M50 are leading, because I read very good things on them and also in the freq charts on headroom they seem to even top the k240's.   Thanks.

Hey,   Firstly I'd like to know your initial impression [as I think "burnin" is a total myth], but I'd also like to know the price you got them for/where.   Thanks!

    Sub$100 Multi purpose Headphones (Home-Studio)

Hi   Alright, so I narrowed it to: Sony MDR7506, Fostex T50RP, ATH m50 or NIB m40fs [how big is the diff between them?] and Edit: AKG K240 [I just noticed they're well in my price range].   I figure that because most of my posts here are too long, I get few replies so I'll repeat shortly...

Burning in without Amps. Is it safe?

Quote: Although the analogy doesn't exactly fit the situation, try to ask yourself the same question about car makers.. and you'll figure out the "why" on your own..       If by now you didn't, then the answer is pretty simple, It takes a HUGE amount of resources to do that to...

Hey,   Firstly thank's to ALL of you who replied, and quickly too!   Currently, The Fostex T50rps looks like a pretty good option, I am also considering the Sennheiser's , as for the Sony, Are you sure they're not Bassy type of phones?   About the SQ, I think I didn't explain myself...

Burning in without Amps. Is it safe?

The whole concept of "Burnin" the headphones is controversial at best. And as funny as it sounds, there is a whole lot more than one method of achieving it, some opposite others. I.E. some say play specific type of things, some say play a bit of everything, some say constant vol. some say...

    Headphones vs. Earphones--Which Ones?

Generaly speaking, SQ Will probably be better in headphones compared to earphones in almost any budget[meaning: 600$ Will buy you better headphones than earphones at same price SQ-Wise, etc.....] But I think that there ARE earphones in your budget that can be very close to a high end headphone...

Looking for some new IEM/Canal phones

Indeed, yuins are a bit more 'premium' than the regular earbuds you'd get for 10 bucks, accesories-wise aswell....... If you can find a place that lets you hear them first [and test comfort] - then go there before buying.... Goodluck.

Looking for some new IEM/Canal phones

True, the yuin's are a pretty decent solution for you, although personally I haven't got experience with them i've been reading alot about their surprising sound quality, their downside is isolation...... which is actually an upside to you!

    CX300 vs. ER-6i

You can't compare these two, theres a reason they are from a completly different price tags[er6i is x2 from cx300 pricewise]. so it depends on how much would you like to spend.

Well I ended up buying these JVC's for 8 bucks

Google is your friend, or Wikipedia for that matter lol. But generaly speaking, Pink, White and other colors of noises are just 'nicknames' of repeated frequency sound files..... I can't recall what frequency is related to what 'Color of noise' though, for that - read Wikipedia/Google it...

hmm an offer popped up, senns cx400 for about 50$ - I might be able to take him a little lower from that price, its NIB too [so he claims]. Though right now I'm more interested in the ER4p and SE210.. just unsure which of the two.. but I'd still like to hear your opinion about the CX400...
