Did you select the EU option when first starting the player? If you did, that may limit the maximum volume.

I have one and I've been reasonably happy with it. I use it only for video playback and yes, it has some bugs but not too many to annoy me. I have C-200 in pre-order now.

For Depeche Mode, everything released since 1997, starting with Ultra and any remaster since, is brickwalled and unlistenable IMHO. Earlier albums with original releases are good.

I use Ubuntu nowadays, in all kinds of machines.

Pendulum has nice low basslines, but I am not sure if it is fast enough for you.

It is called a soundcard with S/PDIF in. Just record the digital input and you can compare if the result is identical to the output.
