Focal Clear headphones
For me it wasn't cracking in the drivers of the radiance, but creaking on the frame of the left cup, I believe it was probably the return springs for the cups, which is another pet peeve of mine with focal headphones. I do get crackling on both of my LCDs when I first put them on, which I think...- Erick Muller

Focal Clear headphones
The amping requirements of Tungsten have been one of the main reasons I haven't bought one.... also the fact that's almost impossible to win the ModHouse lottery every month for the privilege of owning a Tungsten.- Erick Muller

Focal Clear headphones
Despite the problems that some times happen with focal drivers, I think the Clear offer something exceptional in the focal range of open back headphones, specially given that they may soon stopped being produce, being that I think only headphones.com sells them to the public, at least here from...- Erick Muller

Focal Clear headphones
It just happen one day, I think I was at the office using either my aune yuki or the shanling H5 and the right driver just stopped working, never had an issue with the radiance, there's was a creaking sound every time I adjusted the headphones to put them in my head, specifically on the left...- Erick Muller

Focal Clear headphones
Recently the right driver on my radiance gave off the ghost and I had to send it back to focal in the states, that was like 3 weeks ago, still waiting on news from the rep to see when I might expect them to get return to me, so it's still an issue.- Erick Muller

significantly better condition, just by looks I would go for the mg because the og clears seem to have a lot of miles on them, so the possibility that you inherit a problem goes up substantially.- Erick Muller

You'll definitively want to change those pads, I recommend the dekoni velour elite for focal hp, ask him if he can send you a video with the headphones playing music and just make sure both drivers are working and playing music.- Erick Muller

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
Yep, thx my dude, I already bought that cable and another one that apparently was design for the RU6, because I already tried a lightning to usb-c cable that came with the colibri and it didn't work, also I have the camera adapter for my iphone and the ru7 didn't even turn on, at least with the...- Erick Muller

Another reason to closing the off the case as much as Aune did is to avoid issues with crap and dust getting and accumulating inside the amp, yep if you open up ventilation slits for the amp it cold regulate temps a lot better, but you also get into other issues.- Erick Muller

I think this case was chosen because it's what they have for the higher end line of dacs and amps for some time now, a cost saving measure, you don't have to tool up for a brand new line to produce a bespoke case for the S17 if they have chosen a more optimal design for it, that simply...- Erick Muller

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
Hi everyone. Recent RU7 owner here, I've been really impress with this little dongle tbh, like really impress, my experience with dongle dacs is not that extensive but my first dongle was the Dragonfly black, then a fiio one that my father bought, it was okay, then my previous dongle was the...- Erick Muller

Probably confuse it a little bit with the Aune S9C Pro amp/dac, which is an excellent product for the price also if you're looking for a all-in-one solution and don't want separates.- Erick Muller

EarMen Angel
Following up on my previous comment, I was surprise how well the Angel handle and drove my LCD-X, I know it's not the most demanding planar on the market, but man it does feels really close to an actual desktop system.- Erick Muller

I'm very happy with my S17, that's why I have a really hard time deciding if I even want to upgrade, the only reason I would do so is for the ModHouse Tungsten and mostly out of fear of the S17 not having enough juice to power them to my satisfaction, but that's literally my only concern with...- Erick Muller

Well I have an entry/enthusiast level DAC for that matter, you have significantly better DACs(and expensive) than what I have currently, in theory the difference between your two DACs is not going to be much, maybe a slightly different sound presentation. Btw are you doing any upsampling on...- Erick Muller

I guess that Mentor would pull ahead with more demanding headphones, specially hard to drive planars like the Tungsten, Susvara, 1266, etc., in any head to head comparison because of the extra power that Mentor has, but in a sense, given the market segment that the S17 is placed, it's perfectly...- Erick Muller

Thanks for the recommendation will listen to it once I get back home. This song usually gives me good soundstage but it's pretty much forced because it's kind of a spatial audio test track of sorts, with regular music, I kind of get it sometimes but not reliably so and it's just some...- Erick Muller

EarMen Angel
Hi, I have a technical question regarding the Earmen Angel that I didn't see pop up in the entire thread, I'm aware it's going to be very niche but if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, feel free to pitch in. Recently I got to try out the Angel and I downloaded the driver for it to use it...- Erick Muller

It's annoying tho, and it's not present on both my Clears and Elegias, it doesn't affect anything soundwise, but it does speak to QC issues with Focal.- Erick Muller

we should open a thread here on head-fi that's called the mediocre audiophiles, lol!!!!!!, specially for audiophiles like myself that are soundstage impaired. That's why you always have a bottle of whiskey on reserve when the neighbor comes to complain about the loud sound, you invite him in for a glass and you win him over, he might even start pestering you with PMs to turn up the volume of your speakers so he has an excuse to come over for another...- Erick Muller

Focal For Bentley Radiance Headphones
Well those are good news then, you have uplifted my bad mood my friend. I'm not in a rush to get this repair ASAP, I would prefer that they take their time on my headphone and do a good work on it because apart from the driver failure, the left cup also had a weird creaking sound when I was...- Erick Muller

I have relatively easy access to the HD800S, but it's not mine, but I can always take it out on loan from my father and I loan him my headphones in return, it's really cool to have a dad that shares your same enthusiasm for this hobby, I wish I could take on loan his two channel system tho but...- Erick Muller
