I've always thought the HP cable thing was mostly snakeoil like speaker wire at short distances because we are talking about a few feet. I am inclined to give it a try if folks really think the balanced cable gains something in even a modest upgrade.

I agree that it seems to help but I would advise replacing it with something audi transparent. You don't want to gum up the driver with dead skin, hair, dust, etc.

I was surprised to read that the "tad bright" comment. If anything, I find the Zen Dac v2 to be one of the least bright SS dac/amps I have used. From the portable end, I think the HipDac2 was even, perhaps a touch less bright.

Great condition and working perfectly. The sound is really remarkable but decided to stick with a dongle for portability. Price includes PP fee and shipping in the lower 48. Will take 152 if you can receive at a business or a UPS Access point (Advance Auto, Michaels, etc) Or trade for an HD650

The HDV820 is on a wish list but at this point I am limited to the BH Crack, DX3pRO or HipDac2. I still think the S2 is worth a try the even with the lesser amp behind them, would you agree?

I can't say that I agree on the 660s being better, at least subjectively. When I was auditioning the 660S I found it lacking in that the vocals on many recordings seemed to get "lost" as opposed to the engaged sound of the 650. I am anxious to try the 660S2 if it brings the mids that the 660S...
