JDS Labs C5/C5D (pg96) portable amp/amp+DAC
Considering looking at a c5d as a portable dac/amp combo. But based on what I've managed to read from this thread, most of you are c5 owners and generally people have not noticed too much change going from source to source with the c5d. Any of you c5d owners can comment on the built in dac vs...- Cata1yst

Twisted Pear Audio Opus DAC
im still debating over spdif or usb.... but im leaning towards coaxial, the Spdif transceiver board should be able to handle that duty right? And the 15VA transformer is the proper transformer to use? will i need a switch for 115v or 230v?- Cata1yst

Twisted Pear Audio Opus DAC
I figure ill threadjack instead of making a new thread. Lets say i buy a kit (LCDPS, DAC module, and SPDIF board), all i need is wiring, a case, and the appropriate jacks? I assume ill need a 15A transformer that twisted pear sells. And that should be it to get it running on the ground?- Cata1yst

Sucessfuly DIY recabled shure e4

Zahalou vs Opus?
Can anyone comment of the differences between a lightly modded Zahalou vs a stock Twisted Pear Opus? And I assume that the opus will have more headroom for modding and additons in the future due to the modular nature of its boards? Currently running HD600's through a Sansui SS amp. Looking...- Cata1yst

DAC recommendation (for X-Fi Prelude users)
I actually heard that a Zahalou Modded a little outperforms a Bresford....might want to double check that Another option is an Opus DAC by Twisted Pear Audio. Its supposed to be a really really awesome dac for a low price of 200$ (base kit + Case and Jacks, etc.)- Cata1yst

I cant tell a difference between Digital or Vinyl
I definately hear that the highs dont have that bite to it....but thats about it...i dont hear any better highs or lower higher impact bass...nor do i hear the famous organic, wide, deep soundstage, and this is testing with multipule vinyl's Queen, Bad Co, Eagles, Foreigner, etc.- Cata1yst
