Bowers and Wilkins PX8 Wireless Discussion

Just arranged for my second replacement pair of PX8 to go in for the headband fix or replacement (estimated at 2 weeks). Fortunately the original guarantee is still valid as well as the replacement guarantee! A pity about this issue, they're great-sounding headphones...

Bowers and Wilkins PX8 Wireless Discussion

I have a correction to make - I hadn't listened to the P7's for quite a while since I got the PX then the PX8, so I got them out and gave them a listen, and - to my surprise - they do sound better than the PX; a far more clear and spacious sound, and I don't find the bass as intrusive as I...

Bowers and Wilkins PX8 Wireless Discussion

I only wear mine indoors, and not for exercising. There's no way the leather should come away like that - it wasn't stitched and there's no indication of glue, so it's either a design or production failure.

Bowers and Wilkins PX8 Wireless Discussion

I have the P7 too, but find them too bass-heavy for music. Good for Marvell movies, but I prefer a more neutral sound... they're a bit ugly too - weirdly square. The PX looks very elegant but is a bit cramped to wear. It sounds OK to my ears, and better wired, but not in the same class as the PX8.

Bowers and Wilkins PX8 Wireless Discussion

This is why leather products are traditionally stitched ;-) I've sent mine in under warranty - they say "for repair" and estimate 2 weeks. They may replace it with a new pair if they're getting a lot of returns to fix, then they can offer the repaired ones as 'refurbished' ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I've gone...

    B&W Pi7 S2 - ANC massively boosts bass

Just a quick update - I returned my B&W Pi S2 buds for exchange as faulty. Excellent customer service arranged a next-day exchange (which didn't go to plan because of the courier), but I eventually got the replacements in their sealed packaging. And they behave exactly the same - if you turn...

    B&W Pi7 S2 - ANC massively boosts bass

It's not just a bass elevation, it's as if the bass has been turned up to max. But I get the expected slight bass elevation if I switch from ANC ON to ANC AUTO, so I think it's a bug. I found a thread on Reddit that discusses this problem - it only occurs when 'Passthrough' is enabled and you...

    B&W Pi7 S2 - ANC massively boosts bass

Did you get any further with this? I'm finding the same thing, but it only happens when going from ANC OFF to ANC Auto. It then stays hyper boosted even if I switch from AUTO to ON, but resets to normal if I switch it to OFF. I nearly deafened myself the first time this happened! It's fine if...

    Beoplay E8

I eventually sent my original E8s in for replacement, as the left bud volume level had dropped significantly. B&O replaced them by return, no quibbles. The new pair were on v.5.4.0 and had the regular drop-out and echoey channel misalignment, but I recently updated the firmware to 5.6.0 (which...

Sony WF-1000X discussion thread: Truly wireless IEM with Active Noise Cancelling!

Updated my WF-1000X on Android without any problem. I've tried them for a few hours since, and have had only one right-side drop-out and that was recovered almost before I noticed. I would have expected more before the update. So far they're performing as well as the B&O E8, and they sound...

Sony WF-1000X discussion thread: Truly wireless IEM with Active Noise Cancelling!

My experience with these earphones with Android is that the BT connection to the Android device is pretty solid - I've found myself listening in another room, forgetting I'd left my phone on the other side of a brick wall. The connection problem I've experienced is between the two earphones...

Sony WF-1000X discussion thread: Truly wireless IEM with Active Noise Cancelling!

Yes, this is what Sony themselves say in the Help Guide, "The noise canceling function works for noise in the low frequency band primarily. Although noise is reduced, it is not canceled completely."

Sony WF-1000X discussion thread: Truly wireless IEM with Active Noise Cancelling!

I just finished a very unsatisfactory email exchange with Sony support over the intermittent right earpiece drop-outs. After I phoned them and explained the problem and everything I'd done to try and fix it (sound settings, factory reset, etc), they said they'd refer everything I'd told them to...

Sony WF-1000X discussion thread: Truly wireless IEM with Active Noise Cancelling!

As I understand it, in ambient mode environmental sound is relayed from the microphones - if you brush your fingers over the earpiece microphones you should hear the effect clearly.

Sony WF-1000X discussion thread: Truly wireless IEM with Active Noise Cancelling!

Have you tried setting the volume to max in the Sony Music Center app, then adjusting with the phone volume? When I got my buds, I tried them without the Music Center app (on Android) and got just listenable volume on the max phone volume. When I ran the Music Center app, it showed its volume at...

Sony WF-1000X discussion thread: Truly wireless IEM with Active Noise Cancelling!

That was the second thing I tried. No dice. The odd thing is that after two days of frustration and annoyance, I tried them again today, and they were fine for the half an hour I used them. But if they have an unpredictable and extended failure mode that survives factory reset, repairing...

Sony WF-1000X discussion thread: Truly wireless IEM with Active Noise Cancelling!

Dammit! After a week of flawless performance and connectivity in daily use around the house and out in the park, the earphones have started showing the dreaded right-earpiece drop-out problem. This happens irregularly but frequently, several times a minute, and makes music listening impossible...

Yes, as I mentioned previously, you need Oreo with its revised Bluetooth stack, which comes with extra codecs including AAC.

Sony WF-1000X discussion thread: Truly wireless IEM with Active Noise Cancelling!

The idea is that you set the phone's Bluetooth volume at maximum and use the Music Center volume control to adjust the volume to your taste - or alternatively (my preference), set the Music Center volume to maximum, then adjust the phone's Bluetooth volume to taste; it depends whether you want...

Sony WF-1000X discussion thread: Truly wireless IEM with Active Noise Cancelling!

I've been using these for 4 days now, mostly on my Android phone (HTC U11) and find them very good - I've not had any drop-out problems, and the only minor inconvenience is the lag with certain video sources, and needing to use the Sony Music Center app to ensure full volume control. It's not...

Bowers & Wilkins P7 Wireless - Impressions Thread

B&W provide an app to download and run that will tell you the current version and update the headphones if necessary via USB connection. You can find the details in the online P7 support.

    Split between B&O H6 and B&W P7 wireless

I just got a pair of reconditioned B&W P7 wireless, to see how they compare with my B&O H8.    I have to say that the P7 are pretty much everything I was hoping the H8 would be - the P7 bass is more dominant than the H8, and can be a little claustrophobic at times, but the bluetooth...

Aumeo - experience music tailored to your ears!

I've just received my Aumeo, and I agree with your comment about the sound profile using the recommended test tone levels - it does sound over-sibilant and needs adjusting for best results - I'm wondering if this is due to my audio perception becoming accustomed to slowly declining...
