Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?
There are differences that seem to be really small at first but once you are aware of them suddenly become so obvious. Because of this people argue all the time trying to quantify them as 2-3% or 20-30% difference. I don't think you need to have trained ears or graph to see the difference...- hoofman

Great headphone sound? It’s in the CAN! iFi audio ZEN CAN!
Absolutely. My Zen DAC V2 + Zen CAN + HD660S OG + XBass ON = audio heaven. I can use the quarter inch jack with no issues, but most of my other sources use BAL 4.4mm so having to switch the cables all the time is pretty annoying. Yes that sounds like you are having the same issue. That sounds...- hoofman

Great headphone sound? It’s in the CAN! iFi audio ZEN CAN!
I'm facing a very weird issue with the 4.4 balanced output on my Zen CAN. My HD650 with a copper 4.4mm cable make distorted noises & cracking sounds & random hiccups after turning louder than about 11 o'clock. Is this clipping? The cable works fine on my micro iDSD signature, Cayin C9, or even...- hoofman

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...
I found it. It turned out that I saw the review under ER4XR instead of ER3XR. May be this is only true for Amazon Singapore. https://www.amazon.sg/product-reviews/B01GW786B4/ref=acr_dp_hist_1?ie=UTF8&filterByStar=one_star&reviewerType=all_reviews#reviews-filter-bar- hoofman

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...
I read that a few days ago in Amazon's review section. Someone claimed warranty with Etymotic and was rejected because they made the purchase on Amazon. I'm trying to find the comment again and couldn't find it yet. That's strange.- hoofman

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...
I bought a set of ER3XR from Amazon last week and it was broken straight out of the box. I found another person who had the same issue in another thread here. Amazon sent me a replacement immediately. But now I also learned that Amazon is not an authorized dealer of Etymotic and I may get into...- hoofman

Etymotic ER3XR low/fluctuating level from one earphone?
Update: Amazon sent me a new set of ER3XR and so far it's OK. I will test this extensively for the next 2 weeks and hope that this set will last. I'm a bit nervous now.- hoofman

Lotoo PAW S2 USB DAC AMP 150 mW@32 ohm 4.4 , MQA - New Firmware released 26 January 2.0.0.5 link added first post.
It's noted in the RU7 thread that it's a shared LO (similar to a maxed volume output used as LO) and some people pointed that S2 has an LO so I'm checking it out. This is nice. I'll look around to demo an S1 or S2 with the C9. Thanks for sharing.- hoofman

I came to ask the same question. I'm looking for a dongle with Line Out to simplify my Cayin C9 setup and make it more portable.- hoofman

The new Cayin RU7 is very interesting: 1-Bit DAC sound & a (shared) Line Out. Is there any other dongle on the market right now with a Line Out?- hoofman

Etymotic ER3XR low/fluctuating level from one earphone?
Thanks for sharing. I had this exact same problem. I like the ER2XR so much I got an ER3XR to try out the BA driver. Straight out of the box the right ear doesn't work (it makes very soft sound like you described, I had to turn the volume to almost max to hear that, covering the left side did...- hoofman

What Gear Would You Consider To Be “Fun”
I know right? May be not the typical V-shape fun but that sparkling treble is definitely fun to me. I will try to look around if I can demo the Philips X2HR and may be the Koss one as well. Thank you for recommending.- hoofman

Acoustune HS2000MX Flagship Model
Well described thanks for sharing. SHO mk1 has a very neutral bass with sparkling level of details. That was the first pair of IEM convinced me that bright IEM can sound good also. Now I learned that I can't get ACT01 standalone that's a bit sad.- hoofman

What Gear Would You Consider To Be “Fun”
To me fun gears are the ones that emphasized some aspects a little bit more than others to make sound presentation more standout and easier to notice. The most fun gear I have may be the IEM Oriolus Szalayi, followed by Sony XBA-A3, XBA-N3, Hifiman Ananda, Sennheiser IE600, HD660S, and even...- hoofman
