While I don't have first hand experience with many of the higher tier IEM's on this list, I have had a few sets of MDR xb50's over the years. Just recently got a pair of Fiio FH3's and have to say they have some WEIGHT to the low end off a fiio A3 with bass boost turned on while sounding...

Something very strange just happened. Listening to my IEM's hooked up to my PC via USB DAC -> fiio a3 -> IEM's. Went to pet my dog and she gave me a good static shock, ended up zapping both my hand and ears from IEM's and immediately made everything shut off. Had to restart the amp to make music...

Yea I definitely see losing some of the android freedom, all comes down to a price tradeoff. Seeing if any ebay sellers will take $100 for one to save some coin to spend elsewhere. Starts to lose it's edge approaching the 150+ range

update: Looking to grab a fiio m6. It fits the budget, has wifi, will stream spotify, desktop dac function, and fit near perfect with my a3 if I want to stack a little amp. Might try to snag a used one off ebay for even less seems like a good all around bargain for streaming

I won't ever own an apple product purchased on my own dime... Good note on streaming services I know they don't get to FLAC level quality without Tidal or similar service.
