Looking for sub 50 (maybe considering around 70 if it's a good deal) chi fi iem
Probably better to save up for something that's gonna bring a ton of value to it like Blessing 2, as diminishing returns will kick in quicker after that price-point.- PHD2020

AD900x vs K701/2...
DT990 premium in the appropriate ohm for your setup (get premium instead of pro for the non-coiled cable and the more comfortable clamp, this snug yet effortless clamp also helps take them from harsh sibilance to bearably bright). Happy hunting!- PHD2020

These closed-back cans came from a limited-time run collaboration between Jean Rousseau and Audeze, and were released in October 2018 at a price of $1997 with sources online suggesting only about 40 were made. The alligator skin cups came in either blue or grey, this is the blue version. This is...- PHD2020

Gaming headphones under $200 usd?
DT-990 premiums, the lessened clamp force significantly takes away the unbearable sibilance that's present in the pro version while keeping the treble still very elevated like you'd want for FPS games. Combine that with it's superb imaging and soundstage you should have everything you need to...- PHD2020

Upgrading to smsl su9(?)
SMSL-SU9 is great plus there's the PCM filter and sound color options that let you have some control and take advantage of or mitigate unwanted differences of amp pairings. I personally have mine with a THX 887 and won't upgrade for quite a while if ever.- PHD2020

Warm open back cans For Heavy Rock in $1-3k range
LCD-X would fit the bill nicely, you could score a pre '2021 version and eq them or buy new and benefit from not needing to do a ton of eq.- PHD2020

Suggest an amp to pair with my HD 820
Something like the THX 887 or 789 should be way more than enough to blow away your criteria and saying you hundreds. I personally never see myself upgrading from them but if you absolutely wanted something closer to the $1000 a FA-12 and HPA-1 are solid choices. P.S. Get it? Solid?- PHD2020

Good IEM under 500 for rock, indie and electronic
I second this, DUNU SA6 is really nice, also keep in mind there is the bass boost switch on the IEM, albeit it's a minor 2db bump and you could get way more from EQing them- PHD2020

New audiophile headphones recomendations
I'd recommend trying to buy something lightly used so your $300 will go further. If you went that route I'd recommend a Sundara or HD600s. However if you felt more comfortable buying new a k712 comes in just under $300.- PHD2020

Need a little perspective on closed backs.
Just FYI the Fostex ebony/purpleheart/Maple have a tiny slit around the cup that makes them semi-closed, so they have a bit of noise leakage but not as much as pure open. Not sure if you already have some but when I wanted a closed back to compliment I ended up opting to get a decent IEM instead...- PHD2020
