Its funny I only noticed this issue since I've started using them with the IFI Zen deck which is supposed to be a little bit muted in the highs.

You know I just did exactly this (two layers of paper towel just inside the ear cups tucked under the cushions) and it works like magic. I'm wondering if the dynamic range is the same as before, but the sound is really improved!

Spatialise stereo is amazing to me. I can hear so much further into the music, and it is 'out of my head.' if I switch between that and off/stereo, stereo sounds flat and cardboard comparatively. There's no music I prefer with it off and most of the time it seems better than tracks mixed in...

I think it sounding loud might be due to atmos mixing needing more headroom, but there being none in the stereo mix. Or I hope so.

I think the the accomodations work by compressing certain frequency bands. not very audiophile but probably great as an actual hearing accommodation. I’m not sure if that’s the how audiograms work too Though.

Future of music. Maybe headphone listening for sure. I think a lot of the downsides were hearing are due to automatic conversions from actual surround to atmos (fake surround). Once producers are able to test their mixes in atmos it should get a lot better.
